I'm not sure how the victim's family would feel about giving him a second chance. Certainly not when by most accounts he does not seem terribly repentent. Heck, his own mother seems rather proud that he murdered an American.
As for torture, please cite examples. Or do you refer to the fact he was held in prison for killing a medic, NOT a soldier.
And, yes, a 14 or even a 10 yr old knows full well what he is doing. I was held to account for my actions by the time I was 5. I am so tired of there being such lowered expectations that no one is responsible for their actions anymore. If I were to kill a murderer, should I be given a free pass because I'm female or a child of immigrants or couldn't find a job in the field I studied or I'm disabled? As far as I'm concerned, the answer is no, but it seems more & more I am in the minority on this.
