I just have a question about SCOP. I have scooped a few things in several different stores without issue. Today purchased a Bed-in-a-bag at zellers and the wall said 50% off all. When the cashier rang it in it came up full price.I then told her they were 50% off, she checked the flyer and adjusted the price. I then asked her if I would get the extra $10 off because of SCOP. She said no they don't do that, and that I was the seccond person to ask her that today! My question is; isn't SCOP law??? I know they do it at Sobeys, Walmart and Superstore for sure, but I thought I read on here somewhere that SCOP was law!!! I would just like to get my facts straight before I call head office. Thanks in advance for any advice!

I don't believe Zellers has that.

My understanding SCOP is voluntary not law. It is the Scanning Code of Practice, and the store is committing to the SCOP when they offer the program.

I just find it odd that every other store that i've had something scan wrong if I mention SCOP I get it without question. There was a thread on here somewhere about a year ago. I remember the scer saying they learned about SCOP in law class. Thanks everyone for your help. I don't want to make a call to complain if I have nothing to complain about lol!

SCOP is only law in Quebec.
It is a voluntary program that Zellers does not participate in, even if they did, I doubt they would honour it now that stores are in liquidation.

Yes, I noticed that there are notices up that they do not do SCOP........They probably would have been out of business a long time ago if they did. Nothing ever seems to scan at the right price in that store!!! I won't miss them when they are gone...........

SCOP is an optional thing and pretty sure Zellers didn't belong to the agreement .. as well I think they need to have the SCOP sign some where visible for the costumer to read it ..
Happy Shopping !!

I saw some grocery items that were 50% off and still cost more then Walmart! Reminds me why I almost never go there.
