Glad you like the bank. There are others too that don't charge fees, like the Big 5 Canadian banks.

Just a random question, I have a bunch of things set up for direct deposit, i.e. Car insurance payment, student loans, pay cheque etc.

How much of a hassle was it to change over with all those direct deposit info?

I know some banks/ credit union offer to do everything for you. Ive been banking with TD for the longest time but I don't like paying $15/month just to have unlimited transaction. I also have a job that pays $10/hr so I'm always under the limit that account requires me to have soo fees galore!

It takes a few minutes, and it's slightly annoying, but it's not too difficult. You just need to make a list of all the automatic withdrawals you have and contact each company with the updated info (or void cheque). But before you close your TD account make sure they are actually coming out of your newly set up account so you don't bounce payments in the meantime.

It is annoying but well worth the $180 in savings/year! Do make sure that you have everything set before closing your TD account. You don't want any services charges for bounced items. Yikes! Make a list on paper & check each thing off as you see it switched over. It is SO worth the effort! Good luck saving fees & lining YOUR pockets not the banks!

Keep your TD account and go for their minimum plan of $ 3.95/month and $ 1,500 minimum to waive that charge as opposed to $ 3,500 for the unlimited plan of $ 15/month.

You can do 8 transactions with that ..all the money coming into it like pay cheque deposit etc is not considered to be chargeable transaction ,only money going out is.

How many transactions do you do per month ? even if you exceed 8 , its still only $ 1 per extra transaction.
