Can anyone explain what a "financial card" is - is it a credit card? Also, if you use your SDM MC won't you get more than the 8000 bp?

"Gift or financial cards may not be used to purchase additional gift or financial cards. Bonus points will not be issued for transactions in which a gift card or a financial card is used as tender to pay for additional gift or financial cards."

No you have to do seperate transactions on $150 each. As its buy gc $150 or more and get 8000$ points. So if you spend 600 in a sigle transaction you will get only one time 8000 point. So you should do 4x $150 transactions for 4 x 8000 points.

And it has to be at least 2 gcs that total $150. If you buy 1 gc at $150 you will get zero bonus points.

does anyone have a list of what giftcards they sell?

Also can I do 4 transactions back to back of $150?

Can I use the SDM giftcards that same day to pay for a purchase if they have a event like 20x the points?

    >>does anyone have a list of what giftcards they sell?

    There's a thread about that: http://forum.smartcanucks.ca/321869-...le-sdm-canada/

Just check that the ones you buy qualify for the promotion

    >>Also can I do 4 transactions back to back of $150?

It shouldn't be a problem, except maybe with your cc company. I tried to do several transactions back to back last year. But after the second one my cc was refused (mbna optimum mc!). When I got home I called mbna and they said that multiple consecutive gc purchases get fl*gged (site won't let me put in that 'f' word!) as possible fraud. They put a note on my file alerting whoever monitors these things that I would be making x$ additional purchases. I think I will call my cc company in advance this time, come to think of it

    >>Can I use the SDM giftcards that same day to pay for a purchase if they have a event like 20x the points?

I don't see why not. People do it all the time before the points events

    Happy shopping!

I think I posted this in the other thread...

Did anyone have trouble re-loading an old empty gc and getting the points last time?

I asked the manager about this last night and he said he thinks it may not register properly if I'm just reloading. A couple of years ago when the promo was to use the mbna optimum cc to buy sdm gcs, the optimum office told me it had to be new gcs, not re-loading.

    Anyone?

    Thanks!

Hi, I asked this in the other thread last night but haven't gotten answer and I'm hoping to get out first thing in the AM. I normally would have just waited for my question to be answered, but I'm running out of time to strategise a run through Shoppers with the family in tow

"First I apologize if I'm just plain thick and I'm not getting it. I think it's just one of those days

If I purchased the $150 in SDM gift cards using my RBC Optimum CC, I would get ONLY the 2,250 points? Or those 2,250 points + the 1500 base + 8,000 bonus? Or some other combination of these?

    Thanks in advance"

As far as i understand you cannot purchase the gift cards with your optimum cc, not for this promo anyway. you can't use an optimum credit card or debit card (if that exists lol). That is what i understand anyway. You can use other royal bank visa card or other bank cards, but not optimum ones OR pre-paid visa cards.

Last year I used my Non SDM credit card but I haven't seen anyone answer your question as I am not sure if maybe the wording has changed this year

You can use your optimum credit card or any other bank issued credit card as long as your particular SDM will allow it - some don't due to fraud issues they have had. In the terminology of the ad they mean you can't buy a gift card with a gift card or with one of the prepaid (ie Vanilla Mastercard) credit cards.

And yes if you use your Optimum credit card you will get the typical 15x points (2250 per 8000 transaction) for using it at SDM. Last year the base points were also given on SDM (only) cards so one transaction using Optimum card would result in 8000BP + 2250 + 1500.

I did that multiple times last year and got all the points. Because this is an "annual" promotion I do not anticipate any mid-promo change of offer or limit to one per card, etc.

I am wondering, if I can't decide which gift card to purchase, could I first get the shopper's card, and maybe use it to buy other cards later on? As they put in the advertising, Gift or financial cards may not be used to purchase additional gift or financial cards. I am sure you can't get bonus point when you do so, but could we at least pay the other gift cards with shopper's in general?
