Bob Layton spoke on TV tonight at 6:45 about extreme couponers and wasting products to get overage.... Did anyone else see this .... what are your thoughts.

Saw the editorial.People should find a use for their overage items not the garbage. The unnamed big box store a.k.a. Walmart could limit items people buy and not give overage.

He certainly didnt make it any easier ... now people will have something to say to all couponers not knowing how many are good couponers who need the savings or who donate items - they saw it on tv will be the excuse -

I heard it yesterday morning. First off I rarely have more than two coupons for the same product (or variation). I've only had a hard time once in the RCSS and the customer service manager was great and told the cashier to stop giving me a hard time.

Coupons were never designed to be hoarded to buy multiples to get "overage". Factor in that many charities would rather have cash and the donating bubble should burst. Yes, it's a feel good thing to make gift bags and backpacks but the charities can get great deals from stores and wholesalers when they go shopping. They know what their clients need not what we think they want.

I have been hoarding cleaners ever since my kids moved out to their own places. Every time they come to visit I make sure they have plenty of cleaner to go home with. They are both boys so buying cleaners is not a high priority.

i didnt get a chance to see / hear the article but i think that like mentioned in lots of prior posts, some ppl need to create a stock pile while others dont.. and in my opinion what does it matter if they do or not its not you that is using the products at their home and its not you that is paying for their bills n groceries... yes i agree that there are ppl out there that like on the last episode of extreme couponing said they buy to make their pile look good and dont need but really couponing isnt that easy in canada so the ppl i find in canada make a stock pile to live off of, not make it look pretty just to have it there... i think everyone should have equal rights to being able to do as the need to make their families lives better and be able to maybe enjoy some of the finer things in life because they can actually afford to get them due to making a stock pile for their family to rely on... however for those that due make over do the sales at times -please cut back as we will loose couponing more and more as it is over done... however if the stores would keep the deals up that are getting more attention at times then they would also realize that they would not have to worry about cleared shelves if the deal was offered more often. my opionon... and AWW IF YOU COULD PLEASE POST YOUR LETTER YOU WROTE THANK YOU

    happy couponing everyone

questions what can the donation centers take in regards to donations?

I would post it if I had it. I posted it as a comment right to the article, where other comments were posted and when I sent it in it said it has to be reviewed and would be posted if they wanted it. Which apparently they didn't. It was polite and to the point but apparently Bob feels the need to screen what he will have posted.
