Do you collect thing --- other than dustbunnies?

Morning everyone. I'm just wondering if any of you collect things. When I was younger, I collected pigs, the ceramic kind, I know what some of you were thinking Anyways, my pigs have long hit the garage sale, but in recent years I've found myself drawn to depression glass. I've never collected it though, until yesterday! Discussing it with dh last night, I figured I could use it now as it's so beautiful, then pass it on to one of my dd's down the road, and hopefully it will be worth a lot more money then.

About 3 weeks ago, we went to a flea market and I found a beautiful pink depression glass cakeplate, of coarse I just had to have it. Then yesterday, different flea market, another gorgeous pink depression glass fluted bowl, and yes I just had to have it. So last night, sitting talking with my dh, I decided that I would try and make a collection of Mayfair in pink and if I can find some of the Royal Lace pattern in blue I will purchase that as well.

I'll post a picture of the 2 pieces I have later. So, do you collect anything? If so what is it and is there a story behind it? Do you want to show us a picture...you know how we love looking a pictures

I LOVE EEYORE!!!

If I see something cute with Eeyore on it, it is mine.

I have an inflatable Eeyore for my front yard for Christmas, I have a couple decorations for the tree. I have a crystal figurine, countless mugs....I even have this huge ceramic one.

He is just so glum I just want to cuddle him up!

Do you have any of the original eeyore items. He was invented in 1926 and I love all the old pooh items.

No, I wish I did. I keep my eyes open when I go to antique markets and yard sales, but have had not luck It would be the best gift EVER if someone gave me an original piece.

My mother has a lot of depression glass. It is beautiful....enjoy collecting it

Holly, I'm with you on the depression glass....and I also love the green/yellow "vaseline" glass..have you seen that? If you have, I'm guessing you'll love them, too. I used to collect bells when we were first married, but like you, they're long gone.
The past few years, esp with the down-sizing, I absolutely detest clutter in any form, so only a few pieces are on display.

Tell you what I did find at a local flea-market, though...remember Fire King's Peach Lustre dishware? My Mom had tons...anyway, through use, they all lost their lustre, etc, but one day I found about 8 dinner plates, 4 salad plates, a few cups and one serving dish...all in MINT condition! They didn't even look used! I bought them all and had them on display above my kitchen cupboard in our former home. Alas, they're still in boxes here...
This is the style I'm talking about: I love them to crazies!!
I also have a luncheon set of pink depression glass, but I don't know if it's Cherry Blossom or Mayfair....
They all bring back such sweet memories, don't they??

I love collecting postcards! and when I was in high school I collected squirrel stuff!!! kinda seems silly doing that now I live in Canada lol. Plus I had to get rid of alot of it when I moved here....

i collect west german pottery. pieces that are 50-60 yrs old

also mid century pyrex. i have more cinderella bowls than i need :p

i also have more mid century lamps than i need. i see an awesome lamp, i can't let it go!

almost forgot, i'm also unnaturally attracted to stainless steel serverware, and teak serverware. if it is a combo of teak and glass, i just swoon!

i love vaseline glass, i think i've only seen one piece recently, at the salv. army.
i don't really do depression glass, altho i have a whitehall pitcher that i absolutely love. i would love to find the matching glasses

In my younger days, , I collected ceramic, cats, horses, dogs, all are gone now. Also used to collect books, movies, records. I just find they became more of a chore and have lost interest in the last 20 years or so. I have nothing left and was not sad to see it go. With 6 people in the house it's hard to collect anything now, space is just to precious lol.

I don't really collect anything but I have multiple elephant carvings (both wood and stone). So I guess that is my collection...

I don't tend to collect things, however, if I say that I like something then friends and family buy a lot of it. This has happened when I was very young with dolphins, and when I was a little older with elephants. I try not to say that I like anything in particular anymore because I'm not a fan of knick knacks. I am moving to the Boston area soon, and would like to decorate in the Cape Cod white and blue and French Provincial styles. I just don't want people buying it for me, I'd rather pick it out myself. Sounds ungrateful, but I want some control over how much stuff is in my home.

I collect Currency [Paper money or coins]

Mostly older US and Canadian bills/Coins.

I also try and collect currency from other countries also but only in paper money.

I collect just for fun and don't really care of the condition of the bills/paper money, coins. If I find it for cheap, i'd buy it to collect.

Rebecca, I had that happen with my bells! Just a few toooo many! You're so right about wanting to choose items for yourself; I never buy anything that anyone has to display (unless seasonal, like Christmas) because I don't want anyone decorating my home, so I know how that feels. Your blue/white/French Provencal style has always been one I've been drawn to...esp the tablecloths!

Natalka...I think a lot of us grew up with that lustre-ware...it was probably something our parents picked up for pennies at a Woolworth's or Kresge's!
