I've never called a head office to complain before so I don't know whether this warrants a complaint or not. Would love your suggestions. I had to return something that I purchased using a high value coupon. I was planning on exchanging but they didn't have the kind that I want.
Cashier scribbles up my receipt, then says she has to reduce my refund by the value of the coupon. How could I walk away since she had already written on my receipt? The way it worked out in the end, I got refunded less tax than I paid.
When I pointed this out, she kept talking to me like I didn't understand. This really annoys me, especially because not only did they keep my tax money, but they are getting back the value of the coupon anyway and I am losing out on the coupon value too because I can't exchange! This is an item that rarely has coupons.
It's only about $6 but it made me mad that she scribbled up the receipt first without telling me what she was doing. I would have saved the receipt and exchanged when they had the one I need in stock and would've kept the coupon value (it was good on "any"). What she did was forcing me into doing the return then and there
That, and I clearly had a receipt but she processed it as "no receipt" which I assume could screw up their accounting

I'm wondering, as they would be reimbursed for a coupon did she return the coupon to you? That would be my beef. You are getting the monies back from whatever the comapny is, give me my cash, give me a store credit for the amount, or give me my coupon. I'd call. HO needs to be made aware of where mistakes are happening. Perhaps though first you could call the store and speak to the manager and give them a chance to rectify on that level.

That all seems wrong to me. The coupon is cash to the store, so she should have refunded you the price of the item, not deducting the coupon, or let you hold onto your receipt and do an exchange when possible. You should definitely call and let them know otherwise she will continue to do this to other customers. It is also worth mentioning to them that the cashier was overly forceful and somewhat rude. Again by them knowing, they can then do something about it and make things better for their customers.

Speak to the stores manager first. Explain the situation, if you are not satisfied then call HO.

I agree with everyone else that say to speak with the front store manager first, and complain that you had a bad experience doing the refund. Ive seen other ppl do that. If they dont do anything, then call HO

I think you should talk to the store manager. Ive called HO a few times, but i try not to bring attention to my acct when possible, especially when its about $ and not points. They are able to bring up past receipts and issue you a new copy using the barcode on the receipt.

Whenever I've returned a product that I used a coupon on and the cashier tells me they are only giving me back the difference I say "No problem, I'll wait here while you go get my coupon from the cash office". Although I've done only a couple of times.
