After last years successful tomato garden we decided to use up more of our back yard and grow a ton more this year. (And with all the free Ziplocs I have I will be freezing a ton too!!! Plus less grass to cut!) A while back we got a ton of seeds at GT for 33 cents each and these biodegratable planters, 50 for $2 something. I knew it would be a fun activity for me and the DS to do over easter break. So after reading about the Method Laundry detergent being marked down at RCSS we went there to get our dirt. Yes I bought dirt...lol!

We got to the store and there was no Method left....its was ok though...I do have about 16 bottles of detergent....I should use them up first!

I also picked up some bird seed for my birds and the DS wanted some Hamburger Helper....no coupons left but $1.99 is a great price (and $3 meat coupons on them...great way to lower my Walmart bill 50 cents!). So to the checkout we go...got our special Twix treat for being good in the store. The cashier and supervisor were shocked that I only had one coupon...BoGo for the chocolate bars!

So she scanned everything in and my birdseed showed up at $5.49!!! The sign said $4.99!!! After a price check and holding up the line as usual Koolaid gets her SCOP!!!!!

    2x Hamburger Helper $1.99 each
    2x Twix $1.19 each (in our tummies) - BOGO= $1.19 for two
    Dirt $2.19
    Bird Seed $4.99 - SCOP= FREE!!!!

So the moral of my story...all good things come from the dirt!!!!

Wtg on the scop! I love garden tomatoes too. I usually have a pretty big garden and start all my plants from seeds indoors. But I'm selling my house at the end of summer so no gardening this year. I would hate to put in all that work then have to move before the harvest! Plus I'll have enough to keep me busy just preparing to sell, no time for gardening this year. But since I can't imagine not having at least a few fresh tomatoes, I'll buy a couple plants and put them in pots on the deck.
