Very well said, most points programs change and any deal is a good deal in my opinion. If the system hadn't been so blatantly abused we wouldn't be having this discussion .

On another note, I understand that people get upset when bonus deals change or points redemptions change. Of course, I want the most free stuff possible as much as anyone else, but people... remember... this is free stuff.
I am not going to complain that I will only get $xx of free stuff, instead of the old amount (if this poster's info is even valid). It's still FREE.
I follow the rules. I don't try to combine BP coupons on a 20x day (which coupon states is not allowed), and then get mad when my points are revoked. ** (I know some SC'ers have had issues last year with points being taken, and I am not talking about that, or putting them down, because as I understand it, they were taken in error and still yet to be returned).
And don't even get me started on the "high prices" at SDM. Of course, I don't shop there for cosmetics, which are definitely higher priced. I shop there for the milk, eggs, fish, cases of pop, cottage cheese, cheese, diapers, laundry soap, toilet paper, kleenex, formula, baby food, and wicked clearance deals. All of these "on sale" are priced as well, if not better than any Walmart sales, and I GET POINTS to redeem FOR FREE STUFF.
Pretty hard to argue with that, no matter how many times they change the points levels, or how many chocolate bars I get before they change the deal. It's still free stuff for buying stuff I need anyway.
As of today, I am a little over $2000 in Shoppers FREE STUFF for 2012. Not too shabby for buying milk and eggs if you ask me.

Smells of troll post. Their only post is to try and cause hysteria. Don't fall for it. Jan 1 is only 12 days away. SDM would've notified us of this weeks, if not months ago. That and there's a class action lawsuit in QC re: the Optimum program so why would they give themselves more trouble by devaluing?

Agree 100% - in July 2010 when the points valuation changes occurred we were given several months notice.

Fortune telling? I guess shoppers will eventually change the points value. Just like the reward credit card and the aero plan they tends to change the pt value every few year.

The postings related to changes in the Shoppers Optimum points structure are false. We don’t currently have any plans to alter the points structure in any way. Shoppers Optimum is one of Canada’s most valuable loyalty programs and we continue to do our best to offer members value for shopping with us.

All other tiers are "more expensive" as well, though they have changed the value of the money back to help obscure the change.

    9000 Points for $10
    25000 Points for $30
    40000 Points for $60
    65000 Points for $100
    120000 Points for $200

Me thinks, if it is not a real HO post, somebody is very brave -- that's legal action territory
