I should also add I have a type a personality and get frustrated easily and this machine is very simple.

Oh very good to know I tend to slither in low dark places when Kayla is getting frustrated

I will toot my own horn and say I am a pretty good sewer, I have made some pretty epic Halloween Costumes in the past (Wonder Woman, Thoeren Oakensheild from the Hobbit, Geishas, a huge phantom dude). I think I get it from my dad and grama, she was an AMAZING seamstress. I haven't had my machine out for a while but you guys just might inspire me to do it.
I got a basic Kenmore sewing maching for Xmas 19 years ago and its still going strong - I'd love one a little more fancy but am super happy with the one I have. I think that buying a Brother/Singer/Kenmore or a known name should get you a good machine. WalMart seems to have some nice ones @ $100-130.

Well we didn't get to Sobeys, and I didn't make the fried pickles, but the crispy buffalo chicken balls were a hit and the garlic fingers too! We watched the Secret World of Arietti and Taken 2... those were both good. Missed the puppy bowl though we thought it was on later, not at 4

It's still snowing like crazy here so I will bet on a snow day for the kids and hubby (he works for NSCC) I am night shift so hopefully things will be cleaned up by the time I have to go.

I'd love to learn how to sew! My mom was a great sewer and made a lot of my Halloween costumes, and doll clothes when I was young. I wish she could have taught me, but she died before she could teach me a lot of things.

How would you "great sewers" suggest getting into sewing. Take lessons? Buy a machine? What kind? Any tips for newbies would be great!
