Just finished Cold City by F. Paul Wilson, the first of three Repairman Jack prequels. I'd never read any of his books before, so I figured a prequel was as good a place to start as any, right? It turned out to be very good, in fact I've already borrowed another Repairman Jack book from the library.... I think I'll start that tonight

Just dl 'Darkly Dreaming Dexter' series. I've watched the show from season 1 through 7 more times than I'd like to admit lol. I hear the books are even darker. Excited to see how much the show sticks to the authors original works.

Violets are Blue - James Paterson
I can't profess to understand God's plan. Christ promised the resurrection of the dead. I just thought he had something a little different in mind.

what did you think of Joyland? 8/10 is pretty good. just finished it a couple of weeks ago too. i'd say 6/10.

khaled hosseini (can't wait to read this one. i'd give his 'the kite-runner' a 9/10)

I like almost all of his books, there are only a few that I wasn't able to get through (The Dead Zone, Lisey's Story, the recent Gunslinger books). I'd rate most of them quite highly.
I tried Casual Vacancy.. couldn't get past the first five pages.

I am reading Toni Morrison's Beloved but I'm having an awful time getting through it.
But I want to persevere because it's won many awards...so I must just not be at the good part yet.
I have Khaled Hosseini's And the Mountains Echoed waiting on my night stand as my "reward" for getting through Beloved."Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken." Oscar Widle

Some books, even though they review well, still suck. You can't let it bother you.
I think of Margaret Atwood's, "The Handmaid's Tale." Well-reviewed, but IMO, awful.
I'm currently reading a JFK biography. Some of it is interesting, some of it bores me to tears. But I'm mostly interested in the subject, and rarely do i leave a book without finishing, no matter how bad it is (case in point, Handmaid's Tale mentioned above). I keep hoping it will get better!
