    My first posting and being first was just lucky - you guys are pretty fast. However, I am competivie so the race is on to keep up. I have to agree with nottythots - it does depend on your mood for picking favourite Led Zep songs.

    Wow, it's taking me way longer than I anticipated to catch up on the Rush words. But, thanks to the good folks on this thread, I have the opportunity tto enter them!!

    And speaking of good folks - "Neon, Neon, he's our man .....". It was a wonderful day yesterday at the Derringer Invitational at Deer Creek. I had the pleasure of being Neon’s guest ("Oh, I’m sorry, did I break your concentration?")

    We were paired with another Week 2 caption winner ("DON CHERRY! Eat your heart out!") and his son.

    The format was a scramble and we held our own on the course – neither the winning team (-9) nor most honest (+18). But let me tell you, if we ever have a SmartCanuck outing on the links, I call NEON for my team.

    There were a number of prizes available:
    Men’s Longest Drive – I can’t remember what this was for;

    Women’s Longest Drive – for a Tivoli Song Book radio (that according to Derringer, only gets 107.1);

    Hole-in-One for a motorcycle (Neon can fill you in on that one – to me it was a vehicle with 2 wheels but apparently it was “nice”)

    Hole-in-One for an ATVtype vehicle (again - Neon might be able to better describe it)

    Closest to the Pin – for a drill set;

    Beat the Pro: - where the “pro” was Alex Hindmarch. Par 3 and if your ball was closer to the pin than the pro’s, you put your name in for a draw. Alex was a little off his game when we came up and both Neon and I were able to put our names in, but to cut Alex some slack, I should tell you his shot was “just” off the green but in perfect line with the pin AND he was golfing in flip flops! While you can’t tell from just one shot, methinks Alex is a Golfer (with a capital “G”).

    There were also prize holes for non-golfers too –

    Classic Rock Trivia: answer a question and put your name into a draw. They were really hard questions such as “what were Paul, George, John and Ringo better known as?”. I didn’t even have to answer a question as I yelled “Bad Company” as I was approaching the tent (to be fair, they were playing a Bad Company song) – so they gave me the ballot without actually having to answer a question!

    Ted Reader “Slider” Station: this one was really hard – eat a slider and put your name into a draw! (man those sliders were goooood)

    I'm probably missing a few, but you get the idea.

    All in all it was an excellent day. Good food (lunch and dinner), good weather (well, relatively anyway) and Wonderful company!!

    Thanks Neon!! And Karl, hope you made it back to Sudbury OK.

    Cheers!

    Cat rules
    BATHROOMS
    Always accompany guests to the bathroom. It is not necessary to do anything. Just sit and stare.
    DOORS
    Do not allow any closed doors in any room. To get door open, stand on hind legs and hammer with forepaws. Once door is opened, it is not necessary to use it. After you have ordered an “outside” door opened, stand halfway in the door and think about various things. This is particularly important during very cold weather, rain, snow, or mosquito season.
    CHAIRS AND RUGS
    If you have to throw up, get to a chair quickly. If you cannot manage in time, get to an Oriental rug. If there is no Oriental rug, shag is good. When throwing up on the carpet, make sure you back up so it is as long as a human’s bare foot.
    HAMPERING
    If one of your humans is engaged in some activity and the other is idle, stay with the busy one. This is called “helping,” otherwise known as hampering.” 1) When supervising cooking, sit just behind the left heel of the cook. You cannot be seen and thereby stand a better chance of being stepped on and then picked up and comforted. 2) For book readers, get in close under the chin, between eyes and book, unless you can lie across the book itself. 3) For paperwork, lie so as to obscure as much of the work as possible. Pretend to doze, but every so often reach out and slap the pencil or pen. 4) When a human is holding the newspaper in front of him, jump on the back of the paper. Humans love to be startled. 5) When human is working at computer, jump up on desk, walk across keyboard, bat at mouse pointer on screen and then lie in human’s lap, preventing typing.
    WALKING
    As often as possible, dart quickly and as close as possible in front of the human, especially on stairs, when they have something in their arms, in the dark, and when they first get out of bed in the morning. This will help their coordination skills.
    BEDTIME
    Always sleep on the human at night so he cannot move.
    LITTER BOX
    When using the litter box, be sure to kick as much litter out of the box as possible. Humans love the feel of kitty litter between their toes.
    HIDING
    Every now and then, hide in a place where the humans cannot find you. Do not come out for three to four hours under any circumstances. This will cause the humans to panic (which they love) thinking that you have run away or are lost. Once you do come out, the humans will cover you with love and kisses and you will probably get a treat.
    ONE LAST THOUGHT
    Whenever possible, get close to a human, especially his face, turn around, and present your butt to him. Humans love this, so do it often. And don’t forget guests!

    How true! The one about on the stairs happened to me twice this week. Once in the dark I almost went over! Have to remember to do what I call the kitty shuffle to make sure they are not lying on the stairs when it is dark!!!

    Student previously declared dead reportedly resuscitated

    Reports out of Ottawa are suggesting an 18-year-old student who was pronounced dead after an explosion in an Ottawa high school has reportedly been resuscitated.
    Authorities said a drum of peppermint oil exploded in an auto-shop class at Mother Teresa Catholic High School at 10:40 a.m. Eastern. It wasn't immediately known what the oil was being used for.
