The FUJIFILM Finepix JX500 camera is on sale at:
    http://www.thesource.ca/estore/produ...roduct=8001821

So the price is $79.99 and with the 5% coupon code (044389) it comes to $74.09.
I plan to "We'll beat any price..." @ The Best Buy so I should get 10% off so it will come to $66.69 and $74.69 including taxes.

Now I think this is a pretty good deal but I don't know much about cameras.
Anyone know how well this camera performs?
I just want to use it to take some good quality pictures of friends and family and what not.
Nothing professional; just for everyday use.

A nice point and click camera like this should be dependable, but if you read reviews about poor quality in dark situations, then pass on it.

I just want to use it to take some good quality pictures of friends and family and what not.
Admit it, you're going to what everyone else does with point and click cameras... CAT PHOTOS!

Sounds like a good deal,I check what kind of batteries it uses I prefer regular double AAs because i already have the batteries and the charger.Don't over spend on a camera for every day use.

    Oh yeah batteries, smart point!!

Most pictures can be improved in photo editing software, so the best thing is to get somthing practical and works in low light... and long batteries like bluerose wisely pointed out! Yahoo!!

under 100 bucks is a good deal for a camera.... I was looking at cameras recentaly and was looking at over 200 dollar and my neighbor mo made me relize that the ones at about 79.00 bucks where best suited for moi so this is the one I purchased for 79.00 bucks. And its Canon because my 1st one was also not because of anything else.

You guys seem to be partial to Canon cameras. Are the usually better than Fuji or the other brands?

Canon and Nikon are the premium brands for DSLR cameras, I think that reputation helps boost confidence for point and click cameras. I've heard good things about Fuji myself. I have a point and click, I bought Sony, and I based that on the fact they have a special setting for pet pictures. LOL!

I have a Casio point and shoot camera that I bought at Costco that has taken quite the beating.
    It was about $200.

My got cameras for my boys for Christmas and I bought them the cheap samsung ones from Walmart. They are ok, but the pictures that they get are not as nice as my Casio. My DD often steals my Casio because she was given a Kodak camera which takes a VERY NICE picture, but it does not have a rechargeable battery, which is its major downfall.

I have a Canon DSLR that I love more than anything else.

I owned a Fuji myself back when a 1 Mpix camera cost $1000...they had an odd form factor (i.e. a weird shape) and it took them a while to give this up and just start making normal looking cameras like everyone else. They haven't ever been a leading brand

Right now I have a 10 Mpix Pentax which I bought because it is extremely small and light (and I had a traditional camera Pentax that I liked but was giving up for it, so I stuck with the brand) It has good anti-shake technology and I need that lol a rechargable battery, high optical zoom (this is the zoom provided by the lenses, whereas the digtal zoom is done via the camera software), aluminum body so very lightweight

Panasonic also has some really interesting anti-shake technology, better than Pentax, they have cameras with gyroscopes built in them
Thanks for breaking down all the terminology for me. You made it very easy to understand. I appreciate it
