407 etr false billing - ever happen to you? ever fight it?

hi there -

just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

got a bill from 407 etr for a trip i never made. in fact, the car never left the driveway that day. of course, i have no way to prove this.

i'm inclined to just pay the darn since i don't think i have *any* chance at winning a fight against them, but it just infuriates me that all the power is on their side. i could even be denied renewal of my licence sticker if i don't pay this.

has anyone else received a bill like this? try to fight it? what happened?

the 407 is the devil! I refuse to take it because years ago they once sent me a bill showing I got on the 407 on a certain day...and exited 3 days later. LOL I'm fairly sure i did not camp out on the side of the highway for 3 days. They also continue to send bills to my father who is deceased and refuse to let my mother pay it because they need to speak to my father lol.

I would at least ask them what proof they have that you were on the highway. If they don't have any then they should reverse the charge.

shouldnt they have to prove it if you are denying the charges? I would try to fight it for sure. Dont they take a pic of your licence plate or something like that?
Ive taken the 407 about 15 times since it opened, and never once have I got a bill. Maybe someone else is getting my bills and saying WTF?

Make sure you fight it! It is their mistake, there has to be some way to prove them wrong.

Oh HG, I have been fighting with them over a bill for my grandfather, who passed away before the 407 was even there. I even had to call in the mp's office, almost had to have them charged with harrassment it got that bad. They want death certificates, and proof, asking me who may have that lic. plate. I said he passed when I was 12, like I have any clue. The only reason we still get bills for him in the first place is because we bought his house years later.

well, that was *too* easy!

made the call this morning and in less than 20 mins had the situation resolved.

i was prepared for all out war after hearing about the nightmare stories that i had heard.

I've had a few dealings with them over billing errors and I've always found them helpful and professional. It seems to help if you take the friendly, non-threatening approach.
