    A lot of good advice here, and I'm not making light of any of it (because I'm going to use it) when I say, 'why the heck don't women just wear sports bras!!', lol.

    No really, thanks everyone for your help. I'll take her to wal-mart on Saturday and we'll find something that works.

    It is strange because as the inches decrease, so does the cup sizes. Someone at sears told me that a 34C is the same as a 36B. I was like huh? except the 34 is obviously smaller around. I have a 32 D from La Senza and the cup is the size of a B. I think La Senza must have smaller cups than other brands? Its just bizarre

    34C =34 +3 inches
    36 B = 36 +2 inches
    so one who feel tight in 34C woukd prefer a 36B

    and it'S true that different brand names would fit differently for the same size of another brand

    Oh, I agree about the sports bras - they are most awesome! But sometimes you need a 'bra'-bra with blouses, dresses, etc. - and a bit of lace doesn't hurt either...

    Have her check out this site.... http://www.lindasonline.com/bra-school.html . These ladies are amazing, and really know their stuff! And she could be just a tad too big for a 32, and therefore need a 34. I was 5'9" and less than 120 pounds and was borderline between those sizes. Oh, and the band size is usually the measurement underneath, and the cup size is found by taking the measurement around the fullest part and subtracting the band size. 1"=A, 2"=B, etc. You could also take her (or send her to) a proper lingerie store. Those women are actually trained and are fantastic!

    So cup size is only as important as the inches around. I used to think that all As Bs ect were the same size lol. I always thought the sizes were misleading because someone whos a 32 as opposed to a 40 with the same cup are totally different sizes lol. So cup size is only as important as the inches around.

    The number represents your ribcage basically. I have an aunt who wears a 38A...she has next to nothing, but a large ribcage.

    I just used that lindasonline site...It claims I'm a 32E....I'll stick with 34DD.

    There's a fine art to finding the right bra. And it really does depend on the brand/store. In certain brands I wear a 34C, in others I wear a 34DD. I probably could wear a 32 as I wear my 34 on the tightest hooks, but that's how I'm most comfortable. Padding in the bra makes a big difference as well. The C's I can wear have little to no padding. My pushup, however, I probably could do with an E! But really, there's no need to push those up any higher...

    I'm 5'6" and about 145lbs BTW. The number surprisingly doesn't have much to do with your weight. The cup is where it's at. Just give your daughter a cloth measuring tape and follow the instructions on the lindasonline site - the calculator will give you the size based on only 2 measurements.

    Good luck! And congrats on being an awesome dad

    OP:

    I agree with the other posters who say take her for a professional fitting. But please, NOT La Senza. If you have any other specialty shops in your area, they would probably be best, or even a department store like Sears or the Bay.
