Hey gang!
I already asked this in a more general forum, but I was wondering if any of you here knew of any place specifically in Montreal that sold yeast in bulk. Well, anything bigger than the Fleishman's jars.
I guess some folks have seen them at their RCSS and Metro. I've checked the Maxi near me (and IGA), but so far nothing. Just wondering if any of you knew for sure where I should check.
Thanks!

Do you mean fresh yeast or dry powder?
They sell fresh yeast in polish pastry store - Patisserie Wawel (corner Frontenac/Ontario, in front of Frontenac Metro station). They have them in 200g containers, but if you ask politely they will bring you large 1kg block.

I should have specified, but I'm looking for dry. Thank you, though!

Oh I know that place (Wawel) the traditional donuts with prunes are delicious there!
For your dry yeast, why don't you check at Bulk Barn. In Qc, they have stores in DDO, Gatineau, Longueil, Mascouche, Pierrefonds, Terrebonne, Valleyfield and Vaudreuil-Dorion. they also have promo with printables rebate.

I thought of Bulk Barn, but I can't really get to one.
I'm mostly confined to the pointe & verdun. Or downtown, as DH is there often.
Is it possible to get to a Bulk Barn via public transit? Because if it is, it might be worth a trip...Hey, I've been blogging: Nifty Thrifty!

I found this item at Costco a few months ago, I think it was somewhere between $5 and $7 (can't remember exactly, but I wouldn't have bought it if it was more). I haven't used it yet.

I went on the seach for bulk yeast and the best place I found was the Bulk Barn. I know of 2 bulk barns, one on Sources in DDO and one in vaudreuil (there is a train right there). I am sure there are more Bulk Barn stores
