Ditto here, brother. Macs are my job (Apple tech support), and I run 4 computers in the house - ilmk's system (Athlon 3100+XP Pro), an IBM Thinkpad with XP Pro, an old Dell Optiplex GX110 running Ubuntu Hardy Heron, and my personal system (Sempron 3000+ running PCLinuxOS with XP Pro available as a virtual machine in VirtualBox).
I also do free PC tech support and repair for family and friends.
If you're like me, at the end of the day your head feels like a beach ball, swollen to almost bursting with computer fluff.

I am a programmer/network analyst. The only tech support I do is when family from across the pond call me in the wee hours of the morning, forgetting the time difference, and when a couple of the 5000 workers who have my business card decide to call.
In this game, you have to cover all the bases

If you need anti-virus/malware and don't want to pay for it, these two are really good:
Avast anti-virus
Malwarebytes
Download and run them both.
