You will probably continue to get these type of reminders (the mail is really bad for this) for quite some time to come. Loosing your mom is a really hard one, I lost my mom when I was young ( 9 ) and I still miss her to this very day. You will cry lots, but it will get easier. Believe me, there won't be a day that goes by that you won't think of her, but it will get easier. I still get mail at our place (which we purchase from a friend over 3 years ago) and when he passed away over a year ago, every piece of mail for him was returned to sender and marked deceased. I think some people are either to busy to change there lists or just don't think about it. I'm really sorry that happened to you.

You will get a lot of calls and mail with her name on it. I lost my husband it will be 9 yrs this April 19 and after he passed called every one and everything - to dentist, doctor, Shoppers etc to let them know. I still got calls and even mail from the dentist saying he had an appointment. And 3 yrs ago my mom passed away and my dad said he still gets mail with Mrs on it and my mom's name. He still cries and he calls to complain and when I go home and get calls I let them have it.
Death is probably the hardest thing to deal with but it does get better. Lots of hugs to you.

It's so very hard, and I'm so sorry for your loss.

My Dad passed away about 2.5 years ago, and my Mom is now in a nursing home with dementia. One of the many things I regret not getting from Mom before this is food knowledge - recipes! She had an awesome recipe for rolls that I tried making with her years ago and failed, but don't have the recipe to try again. She made awesome biscuits, but again, I don't know how to make them; although she is still alive, she cannot tell me how. Fortunately I have her bran muffin recipe, that was a good one.

I hope you're doing OK. I know you're going through rough stuff, PM if you want to vent!

Oh, that's rough.... but as others said, a few things like that will continue to happen - phonecalls and mail.

Crying is okay, though - get it out!
If you are finding it tough going through her things, maybe you don't have to do them right now... or it might make it easier if there is someone with you while you are doing it.

Make it a memory day for you when you start to go through her room, and definately have someone with you.
You can both sort through items and talk about all the good times, how she loved that one top, or where she got that knicknack from, etc etc. Try to use that opportunity to celebrate her life. You will shed some tears, but chances are you will maybe also have a few smiles when you remember happy moments you had together.

    All the best....

Very sorry to hear about your mother, coupon girl. You have my sympathies. Once, I was visiting my aunt and cousin for my cousin's wedding. My uncle had been dead for at least 10 years when the NDP phoned my aunt's, asking if my uncle would renew his membership and make a donation. My cousin, 30-years-old and one of those macho tough guys, was visibly upset with the call, and said it would be difficult for my uncle to do either, as he had been dead for x number of years. I think these are the hardest situations, but you would think her cardiologist would make a note in her file and cancel her appointment once they got your message. Chin up coupon girl, you still have your children and grandchildren...you're rich!!!
