Hello - I am putting in a raised garden bed (4ft x 8 ft x 6 inches) and will need to fill it up with soil. I do not have a wheelbarrow, and am hoping not to get one I'm in a middle townhouse so taking it around will be tricky but any way. I am wondering if anyone has seen a good deal on soil? I am happy to get 20 bags or whatever that takes, if it's a good price. I will probably just use some cheaper stuff, add in a fertilizer for veggies and maybe some mulch on top to help with moisture. I am excited to have some vegetables this year! I don't want to spend a fortune filling it up though. Thanks!!

I've been seeing garden soil everywhere for $0.99 for a 25 L bag lately.
You can also check with your city. Some places give away free compost to enrich your soil, while there are others that charge.Last edited by sweet sparrow; Tue, Apr 23rd, 2013 at 02:06 PM.

Canadian Tire has a Saturday only deal on their front page, this coming Sat. 20L for just under $1 I think. Soil is so much cheaper this year than last year I find!

This might be a solution for you. Ask them to put the cube where you need it.
Edited to add: I think they show up in the advertisments booklets we sometimes get in our mailboxes for local businesses.Last edited by blueeyetea; Thu, Apr 25th, 2013 at 01:23 PM.

The cheapest dirt isnt always the best.
My neighbor and I split on a yd of dirt and we both got these strange weeds in the only places that we used the dirt. Took a couple of years to finally get rid of it because the roots were runners.
If you buy small bags, it should say 99% weed free on them.
If you google search "the big yellow bag", they are having a contest to win a free bag.
