Canadian Tire money for gas?

Well this is just a small but amusing thing we were told today.

We've been going to the Canadian tire gas bar lately since when turning in the 7x-10X coupons you wind up getting a good chunk of CT money!

So my wife was asking "Can you buy gas with CT money" to the cashier who said, "No, even says it on the money" which is does! However! She also offered something we didn't think about that DOES work for gas.

"Just go inside, buy a CT GC, and come back and pay for the gas with that" she offered, Now THAT was helpful!

So apparently a gift card can be used, and you can use CT money to buy a GC... So, its a "way" to get around to paying for your gas with CT money. And this from a CT employee!

Great employee. So the answer is "Yes" you can use Canadian Tire money to buy gas, by way of a gift card intermediate.

Not sure if the 7x coupon can be used with the gift card. But, the cost of the gift card can be reduced with CT money.

Thought the coupon works with debit, cash and CT credit card.

The old CT money used to say it could be used for gas. Lots of smaller gas stations used to take CT money too... Pioneer here in Ontario did they took them the same as their bonus bucks.

Your theory is 100% correct. As long as you use the CT money at CT to buy the gift card. Where I live the CT is about 6 km from the CT gas station, so there is a bit of travel in between, but it is still worth it.

we have the cdn tire mastercard and we always buy our gas there. (we put on over 1000km/week). every year we buy something that we normally wouldnt have the resource to pay for ourselves. we have gotten a canoe, huge bbq, pressure washer!

the money adds up quickly, if you commit to buying your gas there. it is one of my favourite store loyalty promos, right up there with optimum points and pc points!

Where do you get these 10X coupons? This sounds like a great idea!

In this week's printed flyer, on one of the back pages or last few pages.
Last week it was 6x coupon. The flyer comes to my work, and the coupon is alway missing before I get to see it (another employee).
My gas bar lady says it's a minimum of 10 litres gas. Hope it's the same everywhere.
