Thread: Looking for coupon advice
-

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if i can get some advice, im new to couponing only started about 2 weeks ago and im having trouble finding coupons. I collect them for myself and the inlaws so its very hard to get lots of coupons. I have coupons from save, brandsaver, and websaver.
I was wondering if anyone has any good sites to print coupons, or advice on how to get more coupons. I work long hours so i dont always get a chance to go through stores to go look for the coupons.
also, i live in a small condo so i cant really stock pile items, anyone have advice on how to get great savings, find coupons, ect.
i do check SC religiously since ive found it but im still having a hard time getting a good handle on finding and using the coupons.
any advice would be very helpful
thank you in advanceThis thread is currently associated with: Websaver

Hi!
Other than the 3 websites u mentioned, there is gocoupons.ca
that's pretty much the only websites i know of.
the rest i get from newspapers (red plum, brandsaver, smartsource) there is a thread on these boards that tells u the exact dates. next ones will be in july.
and i also get some at maxi/loblaw, or any tear pad i happen to see in a store
happy couponing

Hi there! Welcome to SC =)
It'll take a little while to build up your coupon stash, that's normal. Keep doing what you're doing and before you know it you will have coupon binders/ holders everywhere, coupons all over the kitchen table, you'll be overflowing with them!
A lot of SCer's will trade 'newbie bundles' in the trading section--it's definelty worth checking out....
Also, Facebook has been pretty good lately with coupons. If you have time you can also email companies of the products you use and enjoy and let them know you are very interested in their products and would like to know if they have coupons available. Hope this helps

Magazines are a good source too. Ask your friends and neighbours for their magazines when they're finished with them....or ask them to keep their eyes open for coupons for you. It's amazing how many coupons you can get your hands on when other people are helping you out.
Canada Post is on strike, but I still find coupons in my mailbox...dropped off by my neighbours!!

Sign up for the freebies that you see posted on SC. A lot of them get sent out with high value coupons - so take advantage of those!

Make sure you take a look at the "Companies you've e-mailed" thread. I got many of my first coupons based on the posts in this thread.

Hi Kat,
What I recommend is you go through your cupboards and make a list of the products you use. Then, go search them on the internet. For example, search "minute rice Canada". When you find the site, go to Contact Us and send them either an email or an online message telling them how much you love their product and how great it is that it saves you, as a busy mom/person, so much time in your day to day life. I, personally, do not outright ask for anything. I just compliment or complain and send it off.
If you complain, make sure it is a legitimate complaint. Also, make sure that you aren't rude or entitled. You will almost always get a really good reply if you are polite. ALWAYS check your spelling - this may seem like a small issue but you will sound better and they are more likely to respond positively.
Anyways, these are my experiences. Hope you do as well as I have!

i'm also new and built up my stash with flyer inserts. (brand saver smartsorce and redplum) my friends condo always has extras they just drop the flyer at the door for people to grab.i wait a day and then grab the extras that were not picked, if the pickings are slim i head to the recycle center and grab them out of the newspaper bins. i was able to get 15 brandsavers last time.
the coupon stash builds quickly, you will find peelies when you are shopping your regular shops too.

id love to find more inserts but our condo building doesn't get them and ive asked family and friends, none of them get it either (think someone is taking them out of their papers) as for getting them out of the recycling bins the only option i had (until i tried to find some) was going through our neighborhood and trying to see if any of the houses around us recycled them sadly the people in the neighborhood have the big blue bins ( im a bit short ) so its kinda hard for me to even see whats inside without looking like im trying to steal there bin lol

Some great advice here, but I will add that you picked the wrong time of year to start couponing lol. There is always a bit of a lull in the new coupons department this time of year. Things will pick up in the fall.
Amazon and Starbucks GiftCards for Searching the net? Yes I did and so can you!

I live in an apartment and I am working on my small stock pile. i got a big book shelf and put it in my hallway across from the linen closet and it holds a bit. You could try this to store some stuff. I keep all the food in my kitchen and stuff my cupboards best I can.

Welcome!
Try Facebook too and walk through the grocery store from time to time and you'll be surprized what you find. Good luck
