Just now I read an article about Johnson and Johnson baby products. They contain cancer-causing formaldehyde, and its hidden in other names - "DMDM hydantoin" and "1,4 dioxane".

    Read the article here:

    http://worldobserveronline.com/2013/05/17/johnson-johnson-admits-our-baby-products-contain-cancer-causing-formaldehyde/

That was what the article said.

But, from the other hand, Johnson and Johnson says that the level of formaldehyde (which is actually in the preservative of the shampoo and called Quaternium-15, actually it acts as a formaldehyde releaser) is very low, much lower that Health Canada allows to use in shampoos. So no need to worry about that.

    What will you say?

I've been using J&J (and Aveeno) on DS for 3 years now
Some companies have no ethics. They send you a lot of coupons to encourage people to buy. I was happy I was saving money but at what cost?
I'm going to stop using this brand as from today. Everything I have in my home from J&J will go in the garbage. If it means spending more money on stuff that are natural, then so be it.

This has been around since I was pregnant with my first over 10 years ago, there's also a debate that they have different levels of things depending on the market they are sold in(so the Canadian and US bottles would contain more or less of the same ingredient). I used these products on my oldest but they make my youngest break out so we use Aveeno and Burts Bees.
I would hope that if the level of cancer causing ingredients was high enough to actually cause cancer that our government wouldn't allow them on shelves in Canada.

Quaternium-15 can cause allergy, maybe that caused your youngest child to break out.

I agree with you and hope so.

That's why I stopped using J&J for my baby because of their ingredients. They also have mineral oil in their products, it also has many harmful effects, especially in infants.

if you look at it that way, then there's nothing out there that is safe enough for you to use.

most foods we consume contain some harmful ingredients, listed or not. certain countries approve something does not mean that it is considered safe in other countries. for example, ractopamine is banned in china, south korea, taiwan, eu, and russia, but it is approved for use in canada and usa. kinda scary knowing the maximum residue limit canada set for the additive.

then there's also controversy around the use of triclosan, a supposedly good agent that protects us from all sorts of harmful bacteria.

Things go smoothly when a mouse under the help of a mouse pad. If you have a mouse pad you can slide your mouse pad quickly. A League of Legends mouse pad can somehow give your this benefit. It can give the league of legends players more passion in playing this kind of game.

If you look in that way, most of the cosmetic products will be banned. Check you eye pencils, mascaras, creams, daily lotions and even shampoos, all will be containing Parabens in one form or the other. Go and search in Google for parabens. they are cancer causing elements. But still we are using it. Wat say?

Yes, you're right. But it's us, adults. And they are babies. We can read and have choices but babies can't.

And WE ARE responsible for babies products not babies for ours.

I hope, Johnson's deeply understands that, and their products are indeed safe.

Who owns this website? No info on the website, the FB page, the Twitter account. Here's the ownership info
http://who.is/whois/www.worldobserveronline.com. Looks like it either belongs to some guy, or an advertising agency salaamcommunications.co.uk.

I personally wouldn't trust an article on a random website where I can't even find out who owns it. What if it were written by someone selling competitor products? Ulterior motive to sell their own products and undermine competitors by causing panic? Amateur writers who misinterpret studies (take it from someone who used to write about these studies, so many people misread studies).

That's just an example, but good to verify sources whenever you read articles. Anyone can buy a website and publish stuff

It's been in the news for a long time, since 2011. I thank Mia and "the guy", otherwise, I would have totally missed this.

There's no need to read all these articles really. Just grab a J&J bottle and look at the ingredients. for e.g Quaternium-15
