Hi everyone!!! I had dyed my hair natural black(Nice and Easy) and my natural hair color is medium brown. Lately I had decided to change my hair color to Medium Reddish brown (Garnier #56 ). First I tried to take black hair color off after 3 weeks I did all over (Color B4 extra strenght). I ended up having orange roots and light black hair that looked red on sunlight, so I did all over color again.
I am struggling to find a way of lightening my hair color. Here is two options I came up with :
1) wait until my hair color will wash off and then color dark brown and when this one will wash off medium brown and when this one wash off medium reddish brown.
2) wait until my hair color will wash off and then color it blond so hair color will become brown.
If you have any suggestions please write and do not forget to vote on poll!!! Am I interested in a way I could do myself and I do know about salon option. This thread is currently associated with: RootsSmile!

If I were a babe, I'd always get my hair done professionally. Why waste time, knowing that chances are, you're only going to do half as good a job as a pro.
And yes, Saskatoon must have some good places to get it done, if small places like estavan do!
P.s. did you say red head? Oh yahoo!,

To be honest..I'd let it fade before going to such an extreme since over-dying your hair causes problems with the hair shaft..

Go to a salon and get them to fix it. It will probably take a few trips as well.
I coloured my hair on my own for years and from experience I am going to tell you that the only thing you are going to do by continuously stripping and recolouring is damage your hair.
Black and red are the hardest colours to change on your own.
After you get it fixed, if you are going to play with colours, do not commit by using permanent colours.Love like crazy everyday and smile.

I second the hair stylist advice - you should only be dying your hair at home if you're doing it few shades darker than your natural. Anything else would be advisable to be handled by a professional, especially colour striping. You could really damage your hair.

I took Cosmetology through out high school and if you know your stuff you don`t have to pay $200 to have your hair done.
DON`T BUY BLONDE HAIR DYE TO TAKE OUT BLACK.
It`s a waste of money. And your hair will go orange. And damage it.
Go to Sally's (Its a beauty supplier, or if you don`t have a local one go to their website, they have shipping.) It`s for anybody not just licensed hair stylists/aesthetics.
Apply for the Sally Card (Its like $5? And it lasts a year), you get cheaper prices.
I`m assuming you just coloured your hair black and before then it was natural/never coloured?
If so, the black should not be that hard to remove.
From sally's purchase
20 Volume Peroxide. Maybe 30. Don`t buy 40 as this is too strong and will break your hair.
Powdered Blue Bleach. Any brand... I recommend Loreal Blue.
Clairol shimmer lights purple shampoo (Will take out brassy tones if your hair becomes a blonde shade from the bleach)
A gooood hair conditioner. They have lots of sample packets that are cheap and really help your hair.
Apply the bleach and peroxide mixture ONLY to the black areas. Don`t do your roots or they will be lighter than the ends.
Wear a shower cap or put a plastic bag over your hair. Leave for 15 minutes. Check. If you want it lighter. Wait. Don`t exceed 30 minutes or your scalp can burn
Rinse. Wash. Repeat. Condition.
Your hair should now not have any black what so ever.
Leave your hair (If you are okay with the colour it is afterwards) For about a month to recover as bleach really damages your hair.
After the month dye your hair your red colour.
If you have any questions don`t hesitate to PM me!
