Same thing happened to me several years ago.
I took 3 days off no pay to totally clean my house and shop for a visit from my sister and her husband whom I hadn't met yet(coming across country). She never showed up until the next day when I worked again calling at 7am to see if that day worked for me. Nope. To top that off my mother gets on my case about not making time for my sister who drove all across country to see me. Btw she managed to fit in visits to each and every one of her friends in those 3 days just not me and my kids.
Sorry for making this about me. Still uptight up it.
So yes I totally get where you are coming from.Zoombucks are back: Please consider using my link to sign up again: https://zoombucks.com/?ref=IIHO0L

So sorry frugal, but like you said, you got to spend it with your dad. That and that alone is worth taking the day off in my opinion.
We all need a little sunshine every now and then
