Playing marbles! My dad made me a cool marble game which resembled the "Plinko" game now seen on "The Price is Right". People tried to hit the middle slot where they got paid marbles but, in reality, the outside slots were more probable to hit, where they had to pay ME! -
The Mickey Mouse Club - "Cubby" and "Annette" (poor soul).
The Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights.
Also, as I was in England for 2 years when I was very small - TV shows like "Bill and Ben and the Flower-Pot Men".
Saddle Shoes (well, kids aren't missing much in that case!)
Having your mother MAKE your Hallowe'en Costume. (My mum was a seamstress)
NOT seeing Christmas stuff appear in the stores on Nov. 1.
Decorating for Christmas by making "Lanterns" out of LAST year's Christmas cards.
Christmas Cards! (I used to sell them to the neighbourhood to make enough money to by my parents a Christmas gift.)
Being able to go door-to-door selling things in the neighbourhood. (It was safe.)Last edited by avoncallingu; Sat, Jul 6th, 2013 at 06:04 AM.

Oh, avon, about marbles - we just used to play with them in the dirt - at the school playground or at home.

I recall the days of riding my bike with friends late into the evening and feeling care free during the summer months. Now it seems you have to keep your kids close with all the horrible things that occur. I know you can't be paranoid but things are different now compared to when I was a kid. I loved watching the Muppet Show and Bugs Bunny. Hopscotch, skipping rope and inventing our own games.
