Morning all!!!....wow, it's shaping up to be a fabulous weekend, weather-wise at least...Sat is my b/day, so after giving yesterday's weekend possibilities some thought, I will pass on playing in the band and go to the cottage....we'll hopefully go out for dinner Saturday...not sure about where just yet... no dishes, tho, no matter where we end up...YAY!!!....
....I wish everyone a safe and happy long weekend....thanks for the words and codes, as always....outta here to get groceries, then gone.....see you all again Tuesday, since hubby has Monday off as well....later, gators!!!....TR

Hubby and I are celebrating our 25th anniversary today..... where did the years go...???

Happy Anniversary to Lee03, blushing bride turned wife & Mum,
Twenty five silver years behind you & many more to come,
Newlyweds become spouses & soon parents to little ones, who toddle,
That is when you realize that you have become their model,
All those years ago, we didn’t instant message or tweet,
This was domesticity & life was just complete,
I think of songs from 1986 & many of them about love & ideals,
& Cindy Lauper & Madonna put the high in heels,
The Greatest Love of All & Addicted to Love by Robert Palmer,
The Walk of Life & Stuck with You by Huey Lewis made us feel calmer,
The Rolling Stones did the Harlem Shuffle & Phil, The Invisible Touch,
& The Glory of Love & Higher Love were on a station we called Much!
Level 42 said there was Something About You, it must be The Glory of Love,
All those Manic Mondays & all those thoughts from above,
There’s an old saying that ‘life is what you make it’.
& perhaps it’s the way you partake it,
So for 25 years of togetherness & through all twists & turns,
Acquiring years with your honey is bound to have its returns,
An anniversary toast, an anniversary dinner & maybe a cuddle or two?
Salutations & my warmest wishes are what I am sending to you!!!

I don't want to take away from, or exploit, the genuine grief and mourning that will be taking place this afternoon at the funeral for Constable Garrett Styles, however I think the following editorial from a few weeks ago is worth a look:

This is a sad example of the state of journalism today. The editorial has already received many comments, none in agreement that I have seen. This will form the subject of my August column in Fire Fighting In Canada magazine (already written and edited, not yet released). Needless to say, I let him have it with both barrels.

Chris Brennan may have a point that a death in any dangerous job is a terrible loss, but he sure has a whiney way of putting it out there... (where might I find the comments... I see none below the column.)

Had a little disheartening encounter yesterday when I found an abandoned kitten with eyes still closed. It was under a piece of plywood in a wood pile.

I called Animal Services and they came within the hour but weren't too confident the little girl would make it.

She was a real cutie and our cat almost wanted to adopt it.

Hoping she makes it!!!

Aww, hope the little one makes it! Wonder what happened to her mother!!! I fed a whole litter that looked like that one last week, they were all alone too!!!

Insensitive, uninformed & tinged with arrogance. I find it distasteful & wonder how an editor would give the green light to publish such dribble. Add a swift kick in the butt when you let him have it with both barrels.

A sombre day today as I head up to Newmarket for the funeral of the York officer killed last week. Officers and civilan support staff stand shoulder to shoulder in support of the police "family" at times like these.

yes, very sombre day! What a terrible, tragic thing to happen all over a 15-year-old driving a car when he shouldn't have and now that young officer who was also a husband and father is dead and the boy is charged with 1st degree murder and paralyzed from the waist down, I'll bet he will always think back with "if only I..........."

Looks like one of the two nice patios at the house I rented in Horseshoe Bay in B.C. a couple years ago. Had visions of having a nice breakie out there but the day after we moved in it rained every single day we were there!!!! I did luck out renting such a nice house though.

Hello everyone finally back from the long weekend, it still wasn't long enough. Seems like the more time you take off the harder it is to get back to work!

Had a nice weekend though, went to Bissel's Hideaway on Friday and just relaxed the rest of the weekend.

I think is was a response to the last funeral in Toronto which came close to a police PR event trying to save face on last years G20 riots.

Many miners have died as have others working in jobs that no one else would chose to do and have no mention in any paper unless they pay for a death notice.

Rest in peace Mr Styles.
