If you want a decent answer, you'll have to define what is an OK service to you.
I've used ING extensively (savings account, Thrive, mortgage, etc.) for years and I've always enjoyed how their service is above what you get from most banks.

I've had ING for over a year, and have been very happy with them. I haven't had any issues, and the interest rate is fantastic!
Their interest rate is actually 2%, not 0.5%.

I don't mind not having a branch, because I'm able to do everything online. I also like that my money isn't as accessible to me, it takes 1-2 business days to transfer money between an ING account and another banks' account. I have multiple TFSA accounts that I use for different purposes (e-fund, car fund, etc), so it's great to be able to open up as many accounts as I want for free.

I have savings, tfsa, and chequing with ING and I think they're all good. I keep my chequing account almost empty until I actually write a cheque, then I go online and put exactly that amount into the free chequing account. That way I don't lose even one days interest by keeping extra money in chequing.

An account in ING is as safe as its in any other Canadian bank.
As far as solvency issue, even if your bank (or any bank operating in Canada) goes bankrupt, You will still receive your money within the CDIC limits..

I've also used ING for years for both mortgage and TSFA. I love them. Their customer service is great and are always quick to answer questions.
I would use them for a primary bank except that it's difficult to find an ATM around for ING

I love their customer service is great. If you want 25 dollar bonus check the orange key in my signature. Good luck
Thinking of opening an ING account use this number 35728975S1 and both of us get a $50!! dollar bonus.

go to the site above......if you are looking for a TFSA, the highest rates in canada at the moment are 3%
that being said....I have an RRSP with ING, and so good so far, but if you are looking for a higher interest rate, there are other options, but the $25 bonus with ING is hard to beat, even at the lower rate
go here to sign up without needing an "orange key"-> http://www.ingdirect.ca/en/landingpage/bunnymoney/Last edited by stuey87; Wed, Jul 6th, 2011 at 06:44 PM.

I have dealt with ING for about 12yrs and now have RRSPs, Mortgage, 3 child saving accounts, my savings account, & TFSA with them - I feel they are AMAZING! I would HIGHLY recommend them

no fee banking is the way to go...however, to go to a machine and actually pull out money without paying fees, I have a local bank, ING just for savings that we really have to think about before transferring
