I decided to stop at my local Rexall on my way home from work today to take advantage of the great sale on Christie cookies. I was hoping to find some Golden Oreos for dh, but did not. However, I am quite pleased with my stop.

Picked up a bag of regular Oreos, sale price $1.49 and planning to take advantage of CO51 rebate. Decided to go check out the price of the Clean & Clear body wash to see if a good deal. Was very happy to find that the body wash was on clearance for $3.96 and there were only two bottles left. Scooped them up and happily went to the cash.

Then things got better. The body wash scanned at regular price of $7.99 which I quickly pointed out. Cashier sent someone to investigate. The guy came back with the tags and said yes, they are $3.96. So he took over my transaction. As he was ringing it up, I said: "So, as it rang up at the wrong price, that means that it should be..." I didn't get to say "free" that he asked me: "Are you claiming the scanning code of practice?" I said yes. He then told me that at Rexall, the honour it, but the customer has to ask for it. (Don't know if this is all Rexalls or just this one.) So while he is ringing it up, I am thinking this is fab, after the CO51 rebate, I will have two bottles for $2 oop.

But he had another surprise for me. He SCOPed both bottles of body wash! So both bottles were free! My total was $1.50, but with the CO51 rebate that I claimed, my oop cost for all this is $0.50!

So I then continued on to YIG to check the CZ board. Seeing the flyer reminded me that I wanted the 2kg Kraft peanut butter, on sale for $5.77. My family goes through tons of the stuff. As I walk in the door, I see bags of Robin Hood flour in a cart, with those fabulous pink 50% off stickers. I'm excited, but I don't know the regular price, so not too excited. I grab a 5kg bag, go find the flour and now I am really exicted. Regular price is $9.99. But it's on sale for $7.99. So $4 for a 5 kg bag of Robin Hood whole wheat flour. Woohoo! I bake every week, usually several times a week, and only use whole wheat flour, so for me, very exciting.

Today was a great shopping day. Even though there were no coupons involved, this was in part made possible by all the things that I have learnt on SC, like really paying attention to prices and knowing when a sale is actually a good sale, SCOP and asking for it, looking for those pink stickers, and CO51.

    Great first BRAG!! WTG!
I love baking, I just wish I could figure out how to take the regular flour out of my homemade pizza dough and replace it with whole wheat. The last time I tried the dough didn't rise.

I have some suggestions that might help. a) You could try using half and half white and whole wheat flour, and see if it will rise. b) Whole wheat flour absorbs liquids more than white flour. So you could use 3/4 cups of whole wheat flour for each 1 cup of flour in your recipe. c) Or instead you could add more water than the recipe indicates.

Other thing with whole wheat flour is that you don't want it to be too old. The elastine in whole wheat flour changes as it gets old, which could hamper rising.
