I know some of you do the dumpster diving thing....I don't really have that option where I live....no time and no recycle bin readily available...so I turned to ebay for coupons...today I got a good score I thought. I just bought 10 of the smart source inserts that just came out in July for $10....$1 a peice...not too shabby I thought..also on line for some other great coupons scores......

Yeah, that is a good place to look if you don't have access. I do the recycle walks myself and get a good haul but it is more work than people think...I thought it was silly seeing them at first, but then again if they are getting them the way I get them well to get paid for the time is not a bad idea as well.

Without trying to judge on you, I was at walmart yesterday in Alberta and a lady at the customer service desk, that worked in walmart says her sister is crazy about coupons, and goes around stealing the inserts out of the newspapers, keeping some for her own use and selling the rest on ebay...thats the not cool part.she also goes around taking whole booklets in the stores and sells them there too.Its different if someone goes dumpster diving and then selling them on ebay..I just dont like the stealing part, call me crazy

Agreed,
I wont buy any coupons from ebay, you dont know where they got them. Why do the same sellers have tons of tear pad coupons? Well because they took far too many for them selfish selfs, no wonder I can't find any at the store. Selling recycle walk SS is not a problem in my mind as long as they were not stolen from papers, but how do you honestly know for sure where the seller got them? You don't...... So I stay awayLast edited by ruggerbugger; Mon, Jul 18th, 2011 at 02:06 AM.

You can go to your newspaper place and get the free paper, or I've gotten 4 copys the next day. I'm thinking about doing a recycle walk, but only when the children are back in school. I'm going to the large homes where they probable wouldn't use a coupon.

You may wish to rethink your plans for where to go on your recycle walks. Some people have been able to purchase their large home by being thrifty. Don't assume that they would throw away their coupons.

[QUOTE=lotsasavings;3654594] +1! Large homes also come with significant mortgages
It's just a reality that people often buy beyond their means and spend a long time paying off their purchase, in this case a large house.
To the OP, good job!
No, you don't know how the person selling the inserts got them, but you paid your honest money for them. We can't just assume the person selling them stole them out of newspapers. Unfortunately, even if they did, if the OP hadn't bought the inserts, someone else probably would. Unless coupon-selling becomes banned on ebay, there will always be an uncertainty surrounding the origins of the coupons for sale. Some of us may choose not to buy them because of that uncertainty, but it's not fair to expect that no one should buy them.Last edited by Aimz; Mon, Jul 18th, 2011 at 10:08 AM.

In my experience, it is the neighbourhoods with about 20yr old homes, where the children of the residents are already out of the house and the mortgage is paid--I find the biggest score of inserts in this type of area.
Also, dont forget that on the day of the insert to go to your local coffee watering hole (weather a McD's or Timmies). People buy the paper and leave it behind--inserts everywhere!
Stealing inserts is so not cool. Selling stollen inserts even worse.Last edited by crAZy4dEAls; Mon, Jul 18th, 2011 at 10:17 AM.

i always have extras from my finds on dumpster diving and i share them here for the cost of the stamps so 10 copies would have cost you 1.25 from me, just email me and let me know next time and i will be glad to send them

WOW OP! $10 for 10 inserts? Hope it was actually worth it... seeing as the only "good" coupons that peaked my interest in that insert was the $0.50 Campbell's coupons.
On the other hand, I find it horrible that the WM girl's sister steals flyers....

I think you pay too much...and in my personal opinion, i would never buy inserts, maybe next time you can see if someone has extras and try to work out a trade...

I am just going to say, good job! If OP thinks they got a good score then good on them. I personally would have no problem paying for something that I could not otherwise obtain access to.. from eBay.

Yeah... way to paint with one brush! There are many areas around here where there are 4-5 families living in a giant house!
