Thread: I got RAOKED at Sdm today

Some background information first.... I went to SDM to use the save $20 wus $75 coupon today. It was a bit of a stretch to make it to the $75 as the store I went to was not my normal one and they didn't have any produce. *problem 1 - and at this point alarm bells should have been going off and I should have departed empty handed but this was my 5th errand and I didn't want to go out of my way to go to my normal store as my other errands took me to a different area of town. Problem 2 - no airwick car fresher for me to use the mir boooo! Problem 3 - my little dude wants to walk and not go in the cart (can you say BIG distraction in addition to trying to get my $75 count in my head as I shop). Sounds more like a rant than a brag so far but I promise I will get to the meat of it. I approach the cashier they have 3 open so I don't even have to wait.
I put all my items up, give her my coupons with the items as we go and she informs me that there is a limit of 2 milk. I say "fine I'll pay the regular price for the 3rd one" she says " NO you are only allowed to buy 2 period." me: "but I need 3" her: "which one do you want to put back" me "we have a problem as I need 3". I really do need three jugs for the week/10days AND I need them to get to my 75$ threshold for the coupon. Frag! By this time one cashier has gone on break and there is a lineup 4 deep. I run and get 2 boxes of overpriced crackers (hubby specifically requested them) and set aside one jug of milk for them to put away. One lady in line makes eye contact with me as I sigh and run to get the crackers. my subtotal is $74.58 and the cashier advises that the coupon limit hasn't been met, I smile and ask her to try as my subtotal has already been modified by the use of coupons, she begrudgingly does it and is surprised that it works. So to highlight some great offers, I did get 2 milks at $3.99 each using a personalized coupon, a 1kg kraft pb for $2.49, 2 boxes of manager stickered granola 99c ea, I used maple syrup on for $6.99 on sale for filler as we go through lots anyways.
As I am putting my groceries in the car a woman from inside comes out and says "here this is for you" and hands me a 4L jug of milk. She said "I heard you in line and their policy stinks. Someone at Tim Hortons paid it forward to me with coffee and now I'm paying it forward to you with milk". I said " no I can't accept this" and she said "I can't take it back and I have no use for it. I want you to have it" I said "ok but only if I can give you a hug" - so I paid her with a hug and a peck on the cheek, thanked her and we both went on our way.
So long story short I was raoked a 4L jug of milk by a woman who had been coffee raoked just a while earlier. What a very kind and generous gesture on her part. Amazing! Made my day.Last edited by wendyjane; Wed, Sep 18th, 2013 at 03:25 PM.

Wow paying it forward really does help down the road! May I ask which SDM location that had the limit of two for milk? Cause the regular one that I shop at does that too.
