"MasterChef Junior," along with Sprinkles Cupcakes, FOX and Shine America, created the "World's Smallest Cupcake" in celebration of the series premiere.
24 of the best junior home cooks in the country between the ages of 8 and 13 will create their tastiest seafood, pasta or dessert dish in the auditions round and present it to the renowned "MasterChef Junior" judging panel.
The winner gets $100,000.

So, I watched the pile of overachievers cook like adults. They made things I have never made, and some I wouldn't ever want to...
Some were annoying, some were sweet.
I missed nastiness and death stares!
Alexander was definitely the star out of the premiere episode!

If I hadn't seen them with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed those kids made those dishes. wow. I think the first time I ever made a dish was a lasagna when I was I think maybe 14, 15. That was amazing.

It just finished watching the first episode and I'm moving onto the second. It's definitely interesting to see a different side of the judges. Joe was less mean and harsh than he usually is but I kind of miss that other side of him. I am amazed at what these kids are putting on the plates.

I know, I miss Joe's death stare!
So I watched the second episode - and I just kind of have to ignore the fact that they are kids; seemingly they are cooking at a level at which I cannot!

So very hard to see the tears when they are cut...

Usually, unless its one of the chefs that I like, I'm completely indifferent to them being cut but with these kids, I can't handle the tears. The good thing for them is that they are so young that this doesn't mean its the end of their dream, they have so much time to realise them.

Wow, the cakes were very telling!
Even with all the help Gordon gave The Hipster, it didn't work!

i don't think they could have put her through when she got hands on help from one of the judges.. Gordon was just trying to help and get her calm and be supportive.. i mean they can't really use the same tactics they do with the adults (though i'll admit i laughed when they did the whipping cream challenge.. and dumping it on the judges)When life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

Agreed that because of the help she got, there was no way she could've gone through.
Dara's cake looked so good. So did Gavin's and Jack's. My friend is a pastry chef and he makes a cake very similar to the one Dara made. If hers tasted anything like the one my friend makes, I would've eaten the whole thing.

Jack was a star!
Gee, Troy should have gone home!
He stays with Dara, Jack and Alexander to continue competing.
Sad to see Sarah crying, but wow, she got Joe's handkerchief!

Loved the reactions of the guests when they were introduced to the chefs

Troy absolutely should have gone home. I will be fine with any of the 4 except for Troy. He was so rude to Sarah and really hurt their team. She wasn't able to do anything in the kitchen and if she did, she apparently did it all wrong. Acting like that in Hell's Kitchen would've gotten him the boot. I know it's a different competition, especially with them being kids, but I couldn't handle his behaviour. He was such a brat the entire episode. Even his filmed responses.
Gavin probably deserved to go home, he was team captain and didn't do anything to help the Sarah/Troy situation. Poor Sarah. My heart twinged a bit when she started to cry. Both in the restaurant and in the MC kitchen.
I'll be very happy if Jack wins. He annoyed me in the first couple of episodes but he's really growing on me. I want either him or Dara to win.
