I don't know about being on mat leave (I know with EI you can't make very much every month)... I haven't had that adventure yet.
What I did was ask close friends/family to have a 'grand opening' party for me, with the commission that I made at that party, I purchased samples (tupp consultants get a great discount on a variety of items that are on sale, but only one per item as like a sample to show off) and I would take those samples to craft shows, wedding shows, etc. At craft shows, you find people who were interested in hosting or purchasing, and you could take cash and carry items (previously purchased samples), which I would then in turn, buy more samples or sale items as a new list would come out every month and build up to a point where I had a lot of stock for little out of pocket as I just kept rotating, you also get prizes from Tupperware to help build your business. In order to really grow as a business you need to recruit others to join, but I just wanted to get a great discount and items for myself so I went it alone. You can also trade parties, so say you have a Scentsy party and the girl who sells Scentsy has a Tupperware party. If you did decide to sign up, all I can say is make sure you get into a great team, the person who signs you up should be really excited to help you grow your business in the way that works best for YOU, not just in a way that makes them more money. This is just my experience lots of people that I met had awesome different ideas that worked for them.

I got some sample prices and all since I did a party, from what I understand I seem to be considered a consultant cause of that one party. I'm not sure . But I did order samples that's for sure
Maybe ill ask DFs friend who did the presentation how it all works .
It's true I forgot about income while on mat leave .. Can't do that. I was actually talking that I can't see coworkers and all while on mat leave . I wouldn't even know who to ask lol.
If need alot of word of mouth since I'm limited in social circle

I LOVE Tupperware, most of my cupboards are filled with Tupperware. Even my older containers that my mom had I still use for craft storage.
