I picked up a drop of Formula....

Baby will be here next month - so over the past month or so I started gathering up formula - all of it was 100% free - My favorite!!!

I stopped at 48 cans - thats an average of 4 a month for a year - so I think I am ok - if not, theres always more coupons!! lol!

I also have about 100 packages of diapers too ( as seen in my stockpile thread ) plus my youngest son is only 1 right now, so I still have all his clothes and things........I guess I get a FREE baby - best deal EVER!! lol!!

I have a question, can you use different types of formula to feed baby? My nephew is just 2 weeks old and he seems to only tolerate Enfamil A+ or Gentlease A+....we have several cans of Good Start and Similac...do you think we could try it later when he is a bit older and he stomach is not as sensitive?

Yes you can - HOWEVER, I don't recommend changing daily or even weekly!! I have 48 cans - a few are good start ( around 6 or so ) but the rest are similac and Enfamil A+ so what I plan to do is use all the Enfamil A+ ( what I have most of ) first, then use all the similac, then finally finish on Good start - as long as they have time to adjust they will be fine..... but like I said - definatly try to keep some type of system going!!

ALOT of doctors and pediatricians reccomend sticking to one brand of formula, they are all essentially the same thing but they are still different and can be really really hard on a baby's tummy when you switch them. Leads to colic, spitting up and an all around cranky baby cause there tummy is upset. I wouldnt even dream of doing it with my daughter

Yes, like I said, I woldnt recomend changing all the time - 2 times over the course of a year isnt bad at all - they start cereals around 5 months - so if changing formula once during then would hurt them - surely giving them cereal would kill them....

Some children develop lactose intolerance several months after birth as well - based on your theory - they would all be colic as well.... neither of my children ever had an issue with it, and I did the same for all of them!! All premuim formulas have basically the same ingredients in them - so its pretty safe!!

I used Enfamil A+ with my DD for about 6 months, and then switched to a cheaper brand. I wasn't using coupons and Enfamil was costing me a fortune!! I don't think there is any harm as long as your baby handles the transition well.
