you could always try.. if its been used. it will probably say its invalid.. hard to say if someone has used it or not if its in their recycle box.. lots of ppl bought it when it went on sale. only for that reason. who knows.. try your luck

The best bet is try it. No harm in trying, you can only gain a valid code! Good luck

What if the person wrote down the code and hasn't used it yet? But like ericaraina said, you usually have to rip the box to see the code. Interesting question.

I always put a big X through my codes once I have entered them
Helps me know that I have entered them, and if someone is "binning" then they'd know they've been entered (at least I hope they would).

I always cut or tear the code off the box and recycle the rest (so I can enter the code later). If anyone went thru my recycling bags, they would get boxes with holes in 'em.

I tried once to re enter a code as I was not sure if I used it. A msg comes on saying the code has already been used.

I can't read the codes without ripping open the box, so even if I had written it down, I'd still have to rip the box. Maybe I just need a stronger prescription, LOL.
I only this because I tried (with the tshirts and the towels). Now I have tons of unboxed cereal. It's like a fun little taste test game for the kids. ROFL.
I only 'figured out' to label the bags after my son said, "why don't you just label the bags?". *facepalm* D'Oh!!!

I like to keep the box together since the cereal is still in the box. I just type in the code and then let my kids go at the cereal. The box is not ripped when I put it into the bin. But I have been thinking that it is probably a good idea to rip it up since people might pickup the box.
