I think PDF format coupons are an alteration of the coupons.PDF coupons are exceeding companies coupon limits. If a company gets too many coupons they may not stores the money for the coupons sent in then stores might not allow printable coupons at all.I think SC should allow original links to coupons only.

If the company wants to set a limit on how many coupons to be printed, they will do so(like in Smartsource, websaver, etc). When the company don't want to limit the number of prints, they just post a pdf link on their website. How is that different than having a tearpad full of coupons in store where a person can pick up as many? Anyway you can only use one coupon per product.
You see the printable coupon instead of a link to the coupon in the coupon database because sometimes companies pull out these coupons(may be it is linked to a contest, offer, etc) before the coupon expires. In that case it will be helpful to have these as coupons rather than links.
The companies did actually contact Smartcanucks to remove some of the coupons, as they don't want them to show up anymore and we did delete those coupons from the database. The ones we have right now on the database are only like $1,$2 or some low value coupons, not FPCs. So it shouldn't be a problem to have them.
