I haven't been charged the wrong price in months, but in 1 week I was overcharged 3 times so I used Scanning Code of Practice (SCOP) on all of them.

Extra Foods charged $4.57 for $4.37 milk (had to remind them about SCOP)

Sobey's charged $2.29 for $1.99 Philly Dip (Flyer said $2.29 but signs said $1.99)

Superstore charged $3.32 for $2.98 12pk Diet Pepsi Cans

I take my time to check my receipt before I leave the store, even though my 2 ds have ants in their pants by the time I'm checking out. (Can't wait until school starts so I can grocery shop on my own.)

It's good you noticed the overcharges.Bet they'll be fixing those prices quick so no one else gets overcharged.

I wonder how many people already got overcharged, especially on the Pepsi since I was there on Wednesday pm.

Good for you. I always check my reciept before I leave in case I missed anything at checkout. Today the cashier missed one of my coupons so I had to go back and she just gave me the cash.

A couple of weks ago I was at RCSS and after paying noticed that they had charged me the incorrect price for my Perrier.I went to the CS and the girl there called to see about the price.I was waiting and other people came and got behind me in line. They happened to speak the same language that I speak and were talking between themselves. The cashier decided to suspend my transaction so she could take them. The daughter turned to the mother and said"she is trying to save .06"....I was laughing inside. But I got my Perrier for free and the best part is that they refunded me $1.65 and I had a .50 coupon off as well!!!!

I understand the concept of scop but what are the mechanics. Do you have to wait until the transaction is over and then go to customer service? What if you notice it at the cash register? Can any cashier do it or does it have to be a manager override type situation. I've had it happen to me but I haven't been brave enough to do anything. Mostly I'm afraid I'm wrong and will look like an ass (seriously don't need any help with that, I'm a natural. Thanks for the help!

I always watch each item as it's being scanned instead of checking my bill as I'm going out the door....not only for watching for overcharging, but almost every time i use coupons, they either forget to enter them, or have entered 3 and I gave them 4, etc. I just always watch while they're scanning it....much easier I think!

I got a SCOP today too on milk at Independants, yay to free milk. Neilson homogenized scanned at $5.69 and the tag in the cooler said it was $4.98!

I watch the scanning of items diligently. Last week at Food Basics I was buying the Hamburger Helper 3/$5 and I had 8 FPC for frozen 750g bag Green Giant Veggies from previous HH boxes. So the cashier couldn't figure out which thing was free and she was giving me the HH for free. When I noticed I told her it was the other way around and she started deleting (entering negative numbers) and then tried again but it wasn't working out right even when the CSM came over. I asked if the transaction could be deleted and started over and she said 'no problem'. I didn't want to pay more than $15 for the HH and the 8 bags of frozen veggies - so - I didn't. I was very happy.

Did anyone notice that my previous post had nothing to do with SCOP?

I was at SDM last week with my coupons for $1 off Special K oat and honey. The display had a sign saying $1.99 each and when I got to the cash, it scanned at $6.49, well after about 20 minutes and a lot of back and forth with the CSM I finally got one box free but had to pay $1.99 for the other as they wouldn't let me use the coupon. I don't get it, but didn't want to spend any more time than I already had on figuring this out. I had to point out that one was free as per the SCOP. The cashier said 'I've never heard of that'. I said 'it's right on that paper here', so when the CSM came over the cashier said to her 'she saw the SCOP sign and wants one for free'. Good gravy, I was a bit miffed at the treatment I got.

You can use SCOP at the register or CS. As soon as you notice it's scanned at the wrong price, you can point it out to the cashier. I try to keep an eye on the screen, but I'm usually too busy bagging groceries to keep track.

Sometimes I think I'm wrong too, so I'll run back to the item on the shelf to double check the price. CS is usually pretty good about SCOP, not all cashiers know what SCOP is.

LOL! Every time I mention scanning code of practice to a cashier they look at me like I have a third eye or something...

    :D Great work!
In 2010/11 I used over $7700 in coupons!
My 2012 goal is $6000 in coupons!
