An awesome, but clueless, hubby brag..

Not sure if this in a brag or an unbrag!!

My H has worked for the same company for a long time. Good job. Pays really well. I have always wondered why they didn't have Christmas parties, etc, like most companies, no bonuses, etc, but I figured the fact that he gets a couple buck an hour raise twice a year made up for it.

My H is on vacation this week but still has to enter his time because they pay way behind. Normally, I wouldn't see him enter his time sheet. So I am sitting beside him being nosy and I see some mention of points in his work email.

"What's that?"

"It's my employee points."

"What are they for?"

Shrug. "For when I get praised at work and stuff."

"What do you get with the points?"

"You can redeem them for gift certificates and stuff."

(Me...getting excited.)

"How many points do you have?"

More shrugging.


"Can you check?"

"I probably don't have enough for anything but I'll check."

Here's the brag part.....My Hubby has been sitting on 2500.00 in points for years. 2500.00!!!!!!! That can be redeemed in gift cards!!! And it turned out that for the month of August, there was a 10% discount in how many points it takes to get a card. There was a huge list to choose from so we got:

20x20.00 Tim Horton's Cards
20x25.00 WalMart Cards
6x100.00 RCSS Cards
5x100.00 Future Shop Cards
5x100.00 Sobeys Cards

YeeeeHaw. We have had some tough times over the last year with me sick. It gives us a reprieve for awhile. He is so clueless sometimes. Argh.

Brag: My H is awesome at his job and earned all those gift cards.
Unbrag: He was totally unaware he had earned all those gift cards and he just sprung on me tonight that he invited 16 people over on Saturday night for a barbecue which happens to be the same day I am having a massive garage sale.

That is really neat and certainly came in handy at the right time. I bet you will make all those gift cards worth more with using your coupons. Have fun spending and don't forget about buying yourself something nice ...oh ya and hubby too for all his hard work !

Good thing you watched him enter his hours this week.
Amazing that the company does that.
Guess you can use one of the sobey's cards to pay for the BBQ items you need.
At least he did not wait to tell you about the guests till Sat. morning.
If he was my hubby I would probabably give him a huge kiss for the hard work to earn the points but a gentle smack for not doing anything with them.

As for the garage sale, I'd still have it, but if any shopping is to be done,, he'd be doing the garage sale .... 16 ppl.. ouch...
