A Good Food Processor

I am thinking of buying a food processor but want to buy a good one.

According to online reviews, Cuisinart is great though Hamilton Beach is also good.

Which one would you recommend me? What food processor do you have in your kitchen?

I want to buy the one which does everything - grinding, slicing, shreding, etc... (e.g., from french fries to hummus and more...). And also will last long.

I have a Hamilton Beach big mouth - model is several years old, there's a different one out now.
It's 14 cup capacity - didn't think I'd need that big, but it's nice to have! The wide mouth part is really good, you don't have to cut up things small.

Does everything I need - but I've never ground anything in it - I have a nut grinder, poppyseed grinder, coffee grinder for those things.

Hopefully someone who has bought one more recently can give you info on a current model.

It's great, so Hamilton Beach lasts long.

Cuisinart is more expensive so I am thinking if it's worth spending so much money on that or go with Hamilton.

Sometimes the shopping channel has good deals on Kitchenaid ones - and will maybe have a sale before Christmas, but now they just have the 7 cup for $135.

We have the Cuisinart food processor (looks just like the Caynes one but probably an older model). I also love the wider mouth that's not available on smaller models. It does everything we need and hasn't broken yet (over five years). My friend's DH said it makes the most amazing cookies on earth - that the dough comes out super light and fluffy! I haven't tried cookies in it yet.

We also have the Cuisinart mini prep for small jobs like pesto, and chopping and grinding smaller quantities. The big one will do the job, but would be a pain to clean.

Both were a gift, but otherwise, we may have checked out a less expensive brand. We're very happy with the Cuisinart line so far and no regrets.

I have the Cuisinart one similar to SweetSparrow's. I have been over the top happy with it over the five years I've had it. I do everything from pie crust (amazingly easy) to cookie dough,banana bread, shredding, chopping, slicing, dicing, etc. with it.

I have the kitchenaid 11cup I believe (they don't make it anymore, but they do make a 13 cup). It has a smaller bowl that sits inside for small jobs. I have never hidden my love of it. I'd marry it if I could! Seriously, I love it that much. I use it multiple times a day. Today alone, I shredded zucchini, shredded cheese twice, chopped meat, and chopped onion. I make hummus in it ALL the time. There is nothing it can't do.

The newer model has an exact slice thingy where you can adjust the slice thickness. I have just about every blade they make for it. French fries, parmesan cheese/ice, shredding (multiple sizes) and slicing (multiple thicknesses). I seriously can't say enough good things. I only wish I had more than the 1 big bowl and the 1 small bowl, I love it that much.

I got mine with an amazing deal on the shopping channel when it was a special of the day or something like that.

One more questions.

Is there a food processor which makes French fries? I read that both Cuisinart and KitchenAid have adjustable blades (1-6mm) but is that good for making French fries? Or I have to buy separate disc for fries? Breville seems to have that, too, but it's so very expensive.

P.S. As for silicone cover just I read in reviews that you have to wash the lid immediately after use, and everything will come out without any problems. So that's not a problem for me. Because one reviewer stated that's it's too difficult, and the lid gets mold after time. Maybe she just didn't wash right after use.

i have the breville sous chef..... comes with everything(including french fries blade) and you also can change the thickness on one blade(0.3mm all the way up to a thick 8.0mm).(expensive but great quality)

But I'm reserving my opinion on the new kitchenaid food processor. So far I'm really disappointed. It's no where near as good as my older one. The lid is horrible. Food gets stuck in the lid and plastic has shaved off of the lid. And the darn thing keeps shutting off when I shred/slice. And worst of all is all the crap that is trapped in the black thing on the top of the lid. It's revolting and I can't remove it to clean it out. I've got a call into kitchenaid to see what they are going to do.

the breville has a 1200 watt motor(with a 25 year motor guarantee)...while the hamilton beach for example has only 500 watt and only 5 years guarantee i believe,cuisinart has i think 1000 watt and 20 year motor guarantee. think about that as well.

i never would go with hamilton beach. i had so many appliances once from them(yes they are cheaper) but they don't last long. i would go with cuisinart or breville.

Kitchenaid is sending me a new lid. They didn't give me any kind of hassle. I don't think it's going to fix the crap in the lid thing (cause it has a hole for the big pusher) but we shall see.

Yes, more and more I read negative reviews about KitchenAid. It used to produce great processors years ago but not now. Though I heard it has better customer service that Cuisinart. Really difficult decision. I have a small Cuisinart processor (4 cups). I think, still I will use that one, and will buy a big one (maybe other brand) after some time, not now.

P.S. I wish, in Canada there were bigger choices of kitchen appliances. I really like Braun, Bosch, Delonghi, Sanyo, Moulinex is also good but here I could find only one model of Braun and one model of Delonghi, on Amazon, which are not so good ones and very overpriced.
