Thread: Never pet a sleeping dog

I think I scared the poop out of Sparky when he was snoring away beside me, his lip would go up with every snore, so I felt the need to touch it. Bad idea.
He turned to attack my hand which I pulled back just in time. He looked at me, put his ears down (knew it was bad) then his eyes were getting just too heavy and he flopped over and fell back asleep.
This isn't the first time he's done it, sometimes it's just me moving my arm ( he sleeps REALLY close to me, face-to-face ) and he'll get upset, then flop over before he could think about what he did.
How can you get upset with that?! Ugh it's so hard to be upset at him when he does those cute things.

When I used to have dogs, I would sometimes put a piece of food in front of their nose while they slept. It was cute to watch their noses twitch while they smelled the food in their sleep. Sometimes it would wake them up sometimes not. Not really the same as what you said but it reminded me of my old dogs
. I miss them!

Our Tammy used to be like that...not agressively, just that when she was sleeping and I'd touch her, she'd open her eyes, look at me as if I had invaded her territory and privacy, and move!
Jenny is the exact opposite. She sleeps on my lap, and I can pet and stroke her the whole time...my kinda pup!
I think she lowers my blood pressure more than my drugs could ever do! Not that I'd stop taking them.....

We just saw a program about wolves - and that the DNA of dogs is 99% the same as wolves - maybe that's just the wolfy in her taking over in her sleep. LOL! If she's done it before, I wouldn't be trying it again - she might get faster than you one of these times.
Our doggie is such a "suck" - he let's me pet him any time - and YES, Lynn! Petting animals IS supposed to lower your blood pressure! (and it's fun.)
