The longest-running presidential love story just celebrated another anniversary.
President George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush marked their 69^th wedding anniversary Monday, extending the couple’s record for the longest presidential marriage in the nation’s history.
They set the record in 2000 when they surpassed John and Abigail Adams’ 54-year union.
“They don’t think of it in terms of ‘we’re the longest,’” Jim McGrath, President George H.W. Bush’s spokesman, told FoxNews.com on Monday. “They’re just so clearly still in love and devoted to one another. They’re two people, but they’re really one person.”
The romance began when the two met during a Christmas dance at Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass., back when the future president was 16 years old. The two were engaged a year and a half later, right before President Bush shipped out overseas to fight in World War II as a naval pilot.

They are the longest-wed presidential couple and on Tuesday former President George H. W. Bush and his wife Barbara celebrated their milestone 70th wedding anniversary.
The 90-year-old - who was released from a Houston hospital one week ago after being treated for shortness of breath - excitedly tweeted a message to the former first lady about the time they have spent together.
The couple were married on January 6, 1945, just weeks after Bush returned from serving in World War II.
'Seventy years ago this very day, Barbara Pierce of Rye, NY made me the happiest, and luckiest, man on earth,' Bush tweeted.

I missed 72 years but they are both in hospital..

While George H.W. Bush remains in the intensive care unit of a Houston hospital after experiencing "shortness of breath," the former president's wife, Barbara, has also been admitted for a separate health issue, the couple's spokesman said Wednesday.
The former first lady was taken to Houston Methodist Hospital on Wednesday morning "as a precaution after experiencing fatigue and coughing," spokesman Jim McGrath said in a new statement following an update on her husband's condition.

Her husband, 92-year-old Bush, was taken to Houston Methodist Hospital to treat an acute respiratory problem stemming from pneumonia, the statement said.
"Doctors performed a procedure to protect and clear his airway that required sedation," McGrath said. "President Bush is stable and resting comfortably in the ICU, where he will remain for observation."
Bush chief of staff Jean Becker earlier said he's "fine and he's doing really well," according to the Houston Chronicle. Earlier, local media quoted Bush's chief of staff as saying the 41st president was expected to go home from Houston Methodist Hospital in a few days after he was first hospitalized Saturday.
Former President Bill Clinton wished a "speedy recovery" after learning about the Bushes hospital stays Wednesday.
