Finding the perfect balance......

Today the most miraculous event occured.

I have a very tempermental, extremely unstable washing machine proned to regular bouts of being unbalanced. It can even be somewhat destructive when in it's unbalanced state, travelling around the laundry room, crushing whatever is in it's path. When it's in a real mood I can hear it freaking out and I have to race down stairs and either hold it in place, or turn it off to rebalance the load and restart it.

I am the only person in the house, who has managed to develope enough of an understanding of it's needs, that I can usually do my loads without too much issue, other than it being noisy on the spin cycle.

Well today I decided to live dangerously. I figured I would attempt to wash my king size duvet. I braced myself to deal with whatever the consequences would be and end up dealing with........Nothing. It was so perfectly balanced that wasn't even noisy.

Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!! the small victories of my domestic life.

Great story! When our front loading washer spins, the basket of boxes of kleenex which we store on top of the dryer (which is stacked on top of it) bounces off onto the floor and the mirror in the bedroom shakes (no where near the washing machine.) I hear ya!

carmanelectric, yes, I understand that panic of almost breaking my neck running down to lift the lid and readjust the load inside.
It is heavy bath sheets that get ours rocking and rolling, so the rule now is only 2-3 of those per load along with other clothes is a safe cycle. That, OR all 20 General Mills cereal towels is fine too...ha ha , cuz get it? they are so thin?

i just bought a new washer/dryer set on friday, to be delivered in two weeks so i will have to find that balance all over again. or, hopefully, because it's a front loader and just plain new, it will not suck so much. LOL. seriously though, i feel your pain. i know just what you mean.

I feel your pain as well. Ours is terrible. Everytime I do my sheets and towels it rocks all over the place. Such a pain!

I LOVE the way you tell a story! If this is the way you usually write you should consider doing a column in a newspaper that serves your area. Or write a blog.

I am great entertainment at dinner parties with my silly stories. But intentionally spitting my thoughts out in ink with any consistancy, doesn't work so well.

Beside's, my current passion is building solar panels and collecting coupons. I think trying to write on a regular basis would get in the way of those 2 things.

a few years ago i had a top load washer that did that... to reset the balence you tip the washer (with help) ... once it is six inches off the ground in the back you drop it back into place... they are designed to correct that way... if the problem still is there you may need a tech to fix it ... but most of the time it works!
