Viktor Sukhin was killed with his mate, Hennadiy Vehera, when their BRDM-2 hit a mine near Pisky, Donetsk Oblast on January 10, 2018. The vehicle was crossing a river… the blast was so powerful that vehicle parts were scattered over 200 meters.
Viktor was born in 1979 in Dymyne, Kirovohrad Oblast. He enlisted on November 11, 2017 and served as driver in the 34th Battalion of the 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade.
Viktor leaves behind his grieving wife and young daughter.

Governor General to embark on first overseas visit to Ukraine and Latvia

Gov. Gen. Julie Payette will travel to Ukraine and Latvia from Jan. 17 to 19 to underline Canada’s commitment to strengthening military, political and commercial ties with both former Soviet republics, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Monday.
As the Queen’s representative in Canada and Commander-in-Chief, the Governor General will meet with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Latvian President Raimonds Vējonis and she will also visit Canadian troops in Ukraine and Latvia.
“Canada enjoys an excellent relationship with Ukraine and Latvia,” Trudeau said in a statement. “We will continue to support these two countries by contributing to the ongoing stability of the region. The Governor General’s visit will help further strengthen our political and commercial ties, and reaffirm our friendship.”
Canada has about 200 soldiers stationed in Ukraine under Operation UNIFIER, a military training and capacity-building assistance to Ukrainian Forces battling Russian-backed rebels in eastern Ukraine.
The last Governor General to visit Ukraine was the Michaëlle Jean in 2009.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov claims it was Ukraine that violated the Budapest Memorandum by allowing the Maidan rather than Russia, which "has never used" nuclear weapons against Ukraine.
Lavrov also says that he respects the territorial integrity of Ukraine within the borders established AFTER the "Crimean referendum".

Tymofiy Pukhalsky was killed during a demining operation near the village of Slavne, Donetsk Oblast on January 11, 2018.
Tymofiy was born in Kryvy Rih, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast on February 4, 1987. He was mobilized in 2015, and enlisted again in August, 2017. He served as senior soldier and field engineer in the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
Tymofiy leaves behind his grieving fiancée. They were to be married on January 26…

Mykhailo Dimitrov, call sign “Haydamaka”, was killed along with his comrade “Speaker” during heavy shelling in Avdiyivka PromZone, Donetsk Oblast on January 17, 2018.
Mykhailo was born in Smila, Cherkasy Oblast on October 26, 1983. He volunteered for the front lines as soon as war broke out, serving in Pravy Sektor and the National Guard, defending the Donetsk Airport. He served in the 1st Separate Assault Regiment “Santa” of Pravy Sektor.
