Senior soldier Pavlo Smyrnov was laid to rest on April 26 in the village of Polubotko, Chernihiv Oblast. He was killed during an enemy mortar attack near the village of Verkhnotoretske , Donetsk Oblast, near Avdiyivka. He was evacuated to Toretsk Hospital, but the doctors could not save him.

Pavlo was born August 7, 1989 and spent his childhood in Polubotko where he attended School No.1. He enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and served in the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade.

Vasyl was born in the village of Bilousivka, Cherkasy Oblast.

46-year-old Oleksandr Shteyko, call sign “Batereyka” (Little Battery), was killed on April 26, 2017 near Verkhnotoretske, Donetsk Oblast.

Oleksandr was from the village of Chemerys-Barsky, Vinnytsia Oblast. He enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and served as commander of an IFV in the 72 Separate Mechanized Brigade.

Ihor Shaposhnyk was laid to rest on April 29, 2017 in Kharkiv, attended by his teachers, instructors and friends from the orphanage school where he was brought up and studied. He was killed in Krasnohorivtsi, Donetsk Oblast on April 28. He would have turned 19 in June….

Ihor did not have an easy life. His parents abandoned him when he was a little boy; he spent ten years in an orphanage and continued his studies at a vocational school. Then the war broke out, and Ihor couldn’t stay away. He enlisted in December 2016 and was deployed to the war zone. In his posts on different social networks, he wrote: "Украіна - понад усe” (Ukraine – above all else).

Marine Oleksandr Berdnyk was laid to rest in his native village of Dyrdyn on May 1, 2017. He was killed near Pavlopil, Donetsk Oblast on April 28, 2017 when his vehicle hit a land mine.

Oleksandr was born in Dyrdyn, Cherkasy Oblast, but resided in Odesa. He served in 2nd Division of the 137th Separate Marine Battalion. He was drafted in 2015, and then enlisted in the Armed Forces in 2016.
He leaves behind his father and fiancée.

Mykola Kucherkov, call sign Tank, died of his wounds in Avdiyivka Hospital on April 29, 2017. He was wounded by a sniper bullet in Avdiyivka PromZone. Doctors fought for five hours, but could not save him.

Mykola was born in Pryazovsky District, Zaporizhzhya Oblast in 1990, but resided in Melitopol. He served in the 23rd Khortytsia Battalion of the 56th Separate Mechanized Brigade. He joined the army as a volunteer and was on active duty from the very beginning of the war in 2014.

Mykhailo Lysak was laid to rest on May 2, 2017 in Hnivan, Vinnytsia Oblast. He was killed on April 29 near Popasne, Luhansk Oblast

Mykhailo was born in Hnivan on November 20, 1987. He enlisted at the very beginning of the war and took part in some of the fiercest battles in the war zone.

Soldier Denys Mayboroda, call sign “Krasavchyk” (Looker), was killed near Katerynivka, Luhansk Oblast on April 30, 2017.

Denys was born in Kryvy Rih in 1980. He enlisted with the Armed Forces at the beginning of the war… three years of combat duty! He was an intelligence officer with the 131st Separate Intelligence Battalion.

Sergeant Serhiy Bohdanov, call sign “Batman”, was killed during a mortar attack near Avdiyivka on May 2, 2017, the day of his 60th birthday.

Serhiy was born on May 2, 1957, and lived in Melitopol, Zaporizhzhya Oblast. He was mobilized on April 16, 2015, and in August, 2015 enlisted in the 23rd Battalion Khortytsia of the 56th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
