So, my mom and I were shopping at Food Basics, and we bought Apple Cinnamon Cheerios, and it was 5.99 on the shelf, but rang up at 6.29... I usually don't check the receipt, but I decided to check, and saw the mistake, and pointed it out to the cashier... she called over another employee, he talked to another cashier, and I was only expecting to get the price readjusted (I hate overpaying for stuff... even if it is a few cents... it's not that I am cheap, but it is just something that annoys me... my mom said don't go through all that trouble for 30 cents... I told her I HAD TO)... it's like an OCD behaviour of mine... anyways, the cashier gave me all of the money back 6.29... I looked kinda confused (I had never done SCOP before and didn't know which stores participate) she said, "it came up wrong, so you get it for free." My mom was surprised... I was too...
So for anyone who didn't know - apparently, FB does SCOP (Scanning Code of Practice)!

What is your best SCOP experience?[/QUOTE]
A cashier at Loblaws first advised me about SCOP. An item rang up higher than I expected. She got out the flyer and agreed that the price on the register was wrong. Then she advised me that I was getting $10 off of the sale price !
Since then, I have SCOPed steak 3 times at Sobey's, once at the deli counter at Sobey's (they finally wised up in the meat department
), once in the electronics department at Loblaws and at Food Basics.
SCOP is not a law -- it is a voluntary practice that some stores have adopted.

Knowledgable cashiers are the best! I received a scop at SDM today, cashier caught it before I even had a chance to say anything.

Actually SCOP is a voluntary program that stores can participate in if they so choose. Most major chains do participate but their are some notable exemption...like Zellers. I've just started scoping myself and my favorite example(s) were this week. Bought the listerine with the bonus aveeno lotion and it came up wrong...got it for free. Was in the same store 2 days later and decided to try again and it came up the wrong price again...so got it free again. I'm going to check next week when I go back in...here's hoping for my third bottle of free listerine
.
