Life really should be a day spent on a sunny beach,
Drinking umbrella drinks made with Newfie Screech,
Coolers of ice & mosquito bites,
Cannonballs & water fights,
Boats that are bobbing up against the dock,
Finding that perfect skipping rock,
Drying your clothes in the sun on the line,
No cable or internet & you know that’s just fine,
Dragonflies & blue skies that go on forever,
Swatting mosquitoes such a fruitless endeavour,
Coffee perking, bacon sizzling & cottage toast,
Campfires at night & marshmallow roasts,
Sunburns, splinters, badminton & fishing,
Hammocks to nap in & for dreaming & wishing,
Gardening, berry picking & homemade pies,
Driving into town to stock up on supplies,
Raccoons raiding the garbage as you are fast asleep,
Perfect spots for swimming where the water is deep,
Moths vibrating against the window screens,
Lifejackets, fresh towels & a damp pair of jeans,
Playing stick with the dog; endless canine frolic,
Write your name in the sand, so literally symbolic,
Playing euchre & scrabble on rainy nights,
Knowing the septic tanks laws are a bill of rights,
Movies & more movies & rereading great books,
Hiding spots, building forts, crannies & nooks,
Days when you feel so good that you could just float away,
I cannot think of a more euphoric yet simplistic soiree.

I'm feeling well as my treatment continues. I am in awe of so many of the people I have met over the last little while. In particular, I've met some really super people who just happen to be Smart Canucks. I have been coming here for going on six years....I can't believe it sometimes. My initial purpose for joining SC was to improve my chances for winning really cool prizes from a T.O. radio station. Over the years, many other threads & many posts I still come here. It's sometimes serves as my quiet time. You realize that it's the great people that make a difference in the lives of others....That can be by a simple thing like a picture, a funny story, a recipe & you name it.
I am still so happy to be here & I can't wait for summer!

Some of the best times we had at our cottage was the fun with my siblings & family friends. I learned how to dive from that raft (though I never once got the courage to try to dive from the diving tower - I just plugged my nose & jumped) My brother built that raft mostly by himself. So many great memories of skiing & that disc...My goodness! Floating around on an air mattress & feeling the warmth of the sunshine. I am so lucky that I grew up with a cottage & a place to spend summer days.
We used to swim under the raft between those drums. Loocie is waving to you not quite curvaceous bow fluff, but still saying hello.

Loocie, such great pics and it's so nice of you to share your memories with us!
You were indeed lucky to have such great summer experiences at the cottage!
I enjoyed going on the once-a-year trip to a lake each summer - to actually swim in the lake and have a barbecue! (Parents weren't much on outdoor life by the time I was growing up, they did it more with the older kids when they were young)
