Please wear sunscreen.
Girls, always to remember to have fun,
& protect your delicate skin from the burning sun,
Stick together, share secrets, love & laugh,
& always step up on one another's behalf,
For friendship is a link that binds friends together,
& keeps our hearts in sync always & forever

You never know what lies around the corner or may lie in wait,
Illnesses endeavour to take over & will even try to dictate,
You examine life in depth & with hope continue along,
Stories of endurance inspire with a brave nudge to be strong,
You do not live with cancer; “it” tries to live with you,
As “it” is most deserving of a heave-ho & a rather blunt adieu,
The burden & weight of sadness can almost pull down the sky,
For no logic can be grasped & fairness does not apply,
So unkind, unsophisticated & unmannerly; such audacity!
We know “it” has no standing when before the ethics committee,
When things like “it” slither into our lives it is a wake up call,
I wish “it” was an app - which no power could ever install!

Please take a minute to check out our website. May is Neurofibromatosis Awareness Month & I hope you can take a few minutes & see what you can learn & share.
I thank you very much - it is hard to say neuro-fi-bro-ma-tos-is but even harder to live with.

NF1 is a progressive disease; that is, it tends to get worse with age. There is no cure for NF1. It's important for people with NF1 to regularly see their doctor, so that any complications of the disease can be picked up early and the symptoms of these complications can be treated.
About 8% of people afflicted with NF1 face malignancies, so it is very rare to see cancerous transformations in NF tumours.
So when I find myself on the Why Me side of downtown,
I remind myself that it’s crucial for me to bear down,
My mission is humbling, but it is the least I can do,
The more people I tell, the more facts to accrue,
I’ve kept things under my hat for far too darn long,
I’m here to sing & inform with my song,
I’m not trying to be imposing, intrusive or in your face,
It’s just that I’m trying to say this with a wee touch of grace,
I’ll continue to educate & I won’t give up trying,
It’s only the facts that I have underlying.
