I thought Ellen was okay, nothing fabulous.
What a way to open with that speech by Jared, what a sweetie - amazing! Next, Lupita's was great, as was Matthew's.
Pink was OMG fantabulous! LOVED her gown!
Sure didn't like the trend of the nude/beigey/off-white gowns that were blingy... boring.
Lupita's gown was pretty - loved the colour, the sparkle and the skirt. The plunging neckline was just odd, as was the useless headband.
Peplums should never have come back...
I thought this was just awful - the gown, and the dowdy hair

didn't watch a second of the show. don't even know any of the winners.
shoulda watched though, walking dead was a bit of a snore fest.I can't profess to understand God's plan. Christ promised the resurrection of the dead. I just thought he had something a little different in mind.

I PVR'd the Oscar's just in case but watched it live tuning in about a half hour late.
I left the recording to just continue. Well silly me! I had this happen before with OT and a shoot out in a hockey game, the recording stops at the regular time, and the Oscar's went over. Lucky I saw the end, poor DD missed some of the last results and speeches ( like Matthew! " all right, all right, all right! " ) when she sat down today to view.
Patty thanks for posting all the pics, I did not watch any Red Carpet coverage, I heard Jennifer Lawrence fell, lol she is such a cut up anyway.
I really enjoyed Ellen again as host, she is just so darn real. I got a kick out of the Director of Gravity when he thanked the
" Wise Guys of Warner Bros " but meant the wise men at Warner Bros.
Teared up at many of the speeches including Jared Leto's, John Ridley's ( script writer for 12 yrs a slave ), Malcolm Clark and Nicholas Reed ( short subject documentary The Lady in Number 6), Chris Buck dedicating his Oscar for the animated film Frozen to his deceased son Buck and some of the presenters comments ( Bill Murray honouring his friend Harold Ramis ).
I enjoyed it all. Just one tiny thing.....why did they have a clearly confused 84 yr old Kim Novak presenting and Sidney Poitier there?? That seems just downright cruel. I do not think it honours them, just shows the ravages of aging front and centre.

love Jennifer Lawrence, she's always so honest and genuine and she just laughs off the embarassing stuff because she knows she's a klutz and has said it many times... i also loved her reaction when Lupita won instead of her.. i think she secretly wanted Lupita to win over her.. i also loved that she brought her BF Nicholas Hoult as her date (there's some really cute shots of the two of them) he's been very supportive of her through the whole awards season (they do make a great couple..(he's also a great actor and has been acting since he was a kid... he was the little boy in "about a boy" with hugh grant)
When life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

Yep Rob Ford did a cameo on Kimmel's Oscar show; he'll be a regular guest on his show tonight.
I don't usually watch, but I might just to see that.
Ellen today was on 'live' - well, I watched it at 5 p.m. so I'm assuming it was recorded live earlier.
I didn't get to see it all, but saw Lupita and Jared interviewed.
The pizza guy finally got his tip!
He's Edgar, originally from Moscow, and thought he was just making a delivery to some writers.
He said he did not know he was going out on stage, let alone into the audience.
Was most excited to meet Julia Roberts, whom he had a crush on for a long time.
Ellen topped up the tip money she had collected from the stars, to make it $1,000.

WOB, oy, Kim Novak! One should age gracefully, or at least get good plastic surgery!
But she's 81, recently diagnosed with bipolar, had breast cancer in 2010.
Back in the day....

Travolta was uber-creepy... and not just because of his butchering Idina's name.
His face/skin looked odd (I know he's 60), horrid hair (rug?)

Yup It's a very bad rug, I saw him in something not long ago where he did not wear his rug and he is bald right down the crown.
Kim Novak, missed her speech, but when Sidney Poitier came out I felt so bad . Thankfully Angelina saved him from falling and helped him along with his lines a little too.
Just goes to show you that money can;t always buy the best plastic surgeon.
Goldie Hawn also looked terrible.Last edited by Patty Smyth; Mon, Mar 3rd, 2014 at 09:36 PM.

All in all I didn't see any really bad dresses. Usually there is one nightmare gown but haven't seen it yet.

Yup, they give the listing of what each item costs - but some are pretty odd; can't see people using all of them.
