[QUOTE=ecat444;3820672]Please RL and Stewy give us a gold bar for a little less money! com'on we are your friends, don't forget!!!

There has apparently been a slight misunderstanding
    by some of our members.

These gold bars are yours to be had absolutely FREE.
The $10,000 U.S. is strictly the amount charged
to us by Fed Ex because the gold bars are sooooo heavy.

Stewy reminds me that cash, in small unmarked bills, is preferable
to cheques , something about banking regulations , grand larceny etc.

If you respond within the next ten minutes
we will send you a second gold bar absolutely free.
Except , of course, for an additional $10,000 U.S.
    shipping fee.

    ACT NOW!!!

    -------------------------------------------

    Thank-you for your kind attention.

    Someone please explain this s l o w l y to Ecat.

Was out playing with pretty baubles & chatting with the Monday night gang. Better go enter the words, have to get up extra early to get bloodwork done (oh joy).

    Night all.

Sorry about being a stranger lately. I try to be strange... but not a stranger. Vacation time of the year... you know how it is.

I missed Derringer read my letter of thanks on the air this morning, but my wife caught most of it.

We had an awesome time in New York last week. The day we arrived, there was an earthquake, which somehow I missed. We left long before the hurricane arrived, and I seem to have missed all the tornado warnings here at home on Wednesday.

Even though it sounds like we missed out on all the fun, we had lots of fun on our own. The Jones Beach Theatre, where the concert was is actually on Long Island, and our plane landed in New Jersey, so we had to rent a car to get there. The drive itself was about 70 miles. We bypassed Manhattan because I didn't want to deal with the traffic. On our first night we stayed in a hotel on Long Island.

The venue itself was an amphitheatre with a capacity of 15,000. We were given VIP tickets, so we had decent parking next to the building, which also gave us an easy access right onto the parkway after the concert. Our tickets allowed us to go to the VIP area where they sold alcohol (the facility is a non-alcoholic venue) and barbecued concession food.

The Doobie Brothers put on a great show, and they played most of the fan favourite songs. The one that really stuck out for me was Black Water, where the singer was replacing "Mississippi moon" with "New York moon won't you keep on shining on me".

Lynyrd Skynyrd was also excellent. About a third of the songs I had never heard before, but the rest of them were what the fans paid to hear. The encore, Skynyrd played "Free Bird", and the guitars wailing on the back half of the song was worth the price of admission alone!

The next day we dropped off our rental car and took the train into Manhattan, where we stayed in a hotel around the corner from Times Square. My wife and I spent the afternoon and evening on the hop-on hop-off tour buses and tried to see everything we could see in the short time we were there. In the evening, we hung around Times Square.

On Thursday, our day of departure, we went up the Empire State Building. Then took the train to Newark Airport. That was the only day it rained. The rest of the time we had awesome weather.

All in all it was an excellent trip. Even thought it was only 3 days long, we did so much that it felt like we were there for a week.

Well folks, I had better get back to work before someone catches me goofing off. Have a great day everyone!
Glad you had an excellent trip to NY, kenrod! Welcome back!
