I have never received a flu shot and don't plan on getting one this year either.
Good information for people looking for a flu shot clinic.

Myself, I've had maybe two or three flu shots in my life, mostly because I had people in my life who were high risk - Mom in nursing home, baby at home, etc. But my Mom passed away last year, DS is eight with a very healthy immune system, rarely gets sick with anything anymore. None of us do flu shots anymore.
Health care professionals really push the flu shot, with statistics about how many people die of it each year. I feel that those that die of it are people with existing conditions. DH and I don't get much of anything as far as viruses go, so I don't feel the flu shot is something that we need. Even if we DID get flu, while that would suck, probably all we'd suffer is a week of misery.

I have had it once, suffered an allergic reaction to the binding protein in it and then got a different strain of the flu that year anyway (or the allergic reaction caused it not to work maybe) . The reaction and aftereffects were almost as bad as having flu

I am allergic to eggs and two times I had the flu shot - one time sick for weeks and other time the allergic reaction sent me to the hospital. I haven't had the flu since 2006 - many colds and even hubby had the H1N1 and I didn't get it. Here in Regina they are pushing the shot too cause they had a few deaths here.

Is that sickness not the worst? I was exhausted from it
I can eat eggs no issues but do not like just eating egg (scrambled, fried etc) but in other foods I am find, there are egg allergies in my family however so maybe the actual protein by itself was too much and my dislike of eggs is my body telling me NOOOOOO

Here’s what Health Canada says about the egg allergy stuff
Regarding egg allergic individuals, after careful review National Advisory Commission on Immunization has concluded egg allergic individuals may be vaccinated against influenza … without prior influenza vaccine skin test and with the full dose

I can eat eggs too which is weird but that allergy test I take always comes up allergic to eggs. That sickness was horrible I swear it was the flu times 10 and it wouldn't go away - I still got the flu. I am taking vitamins now and since Regina has sun problems I was told I take everything now.

Hubby and I had our flu shots, and I had my pneumonia shot. Hubby isn't due for his until 2015.
We went to our local Health Unit for them.
Booked an appt, no waiting, easy peasy.
