My Sobeys in Cambridge, ON is closing next week as well and is becoming a FreshCo. But there's already a FreshCo less than 5 minutes down the road...

yes my DD's Sobey's closed last year, it is now an ethnic Market type store. She and one of her g/f's both got hired at other Sobey's stores though which was great. Then to add insult to injury her g'f's store JUST got told they are now closing in 1 week or two! I have no idea why so many are closing.

The renos for the Sobey's Extra stores probably cost a lot of grocery sales. Also given how many chains and independents have big format stores, Sobey's likely looked at sales traffics and $$ to see if the stores were making money or losing money.
Toronto-think someone posted one on Bloor St. W.? was closing now. But not the Front St. location.
I've noticed the chain website does not tend to post which stores are closing. Guess they remain on regular hours until closing unless you have intelligence from local media or SCers!Last edited by Ciel; Sun, Jun 22nd, 2014 at 11:32 PM.
